Following the trading period, here is our updated list of draft picks for the next three years. If there are any errors, let me know (as I'm sure you will):
Round 2008 1 MON-VDO-MON (Bourdon/Marchand) 2 MON 2 BAC-MON (Marquardt/Gomes) 2 VIC-SNL-MON (Mangan) 3 MON-VDO (Lincourt)-CHI-MON (Labelle) 4 MON-RIM-MON (Goyens; picks) 4 RIM-SNL-MON (Mangan) 5 MON-ROU-MON (2007 Euro; Ouskun) 5 RIM-VDO-MON (Lamoureux) 5 SNB-BAC-MON (Marquardt/Gomes) 6 MON-RIM (Goyens) 7 MON-SNL (Mangan) 8 MON 8 PEI-MON (Little) 8 ROU-MON (Sniderman) 9 MON 10 MON-DRU (Vye) 11 MON 12 MON
Note: 8th from ROU becomes a 7th if Sniderman plays after Jan 10/08 (which may seem unlikely at this point, but who knows)
Round 2009 1 MON 1 BAC-MON (Marquardt/Gomes) 1 VAL-MON (if Marchand playes as a 20YO in the Q...very unlikely) 2 MON 3 MON 4 MON 4 CAP-MON (MacLellan) 5 MON 6 MON 7 MON 8 MON 8 SHA-MON (Baca) 9 MON 10 MON 11 MON 12 MON
Note: 8th from SHA becomes a 5th if Baca plays in the Q in 2008/2009
2010 - all 12 picks still intact.

A couple of local guys the Cats may take a flier on(both are apparently going NCAA) are Jessyko Bernard(F) Kevin Gagne(D) and Garret Clarke(D). Bernard is a big power winger, Gagne is a small but very skilled d-man and Clarke is an average sized but mobile and physical stay at home type.

With all the picks we have this year, it would seem like an ideal time to take a flyer on a couple of these guys.

That was my thought...I'm sure the WC brass will have talks with a few of those guys and see how "signable" they are. Gagne might be the toughest one because at his size education is probably a bigger priority than playing pro.
Bernard with his size and hands would be a good fit with MacAusland's quickness and they have played together 3-4 years in the Moncton AAA ranks(Pee Wee and Bantam).
Noel and MacDonald are other obvious home town picks that could be part of the WC future. Noel should jump to the Q next year and have a decent impact loike Brown and MacAusland did. MacDonald may or may not need a year in Jr.A before going Major Jr at 18.

Would we also spend one of our first 10 picks on Jeff Bell ? I think he could become one of the heavyweights of the Q in time ... and he is a pretty decent Dman.

He could be a possibility in the 5th or 6th round(though right now the WC have no 6th). I think a guy like that is a reason to trade a guy like Bezak for an extra pick or 2, a guy like Bell you leave him in MAAA or Jr.A for an extra year, he already has decent mobility and is monstrously strong. I'm not sure about enforcer, though he may fight, I can see him moving to the wing if he doesn't progress enough on defense. He's definitely got assets you can work with.
Marshall Worden of the Beavers is another enforcer candidate, he's in the Kevin Cormier mold at 6'2" 220lbs at only 16 years of age...he could also me a nice mid round pick.

With a name like Marshall Worden, how could he NOT be an enforcer?

I know you like Bell but Sacre Bleu lol
I guess if a team is going to pick him that high, the Cats would make sense as they have so many picks...but i just dont know man...
I agree on Worden...likely a 6th/7th rd pick because of his toughness.

I'm not high on him, that's where he is rated. I think he moves pretty well and understands the game. I have seen 5th rounders used for much worse.

Lalalaprise, you mentioned Ben Miller from Saint John.... any others from this area that have caught your eye...... Nathan Beaulieu, Dan Joyce, Drew McLaughlin..... any word on their development or any others... thanks.... I've only watched Beaulieu a couple of times...looks like he has the tools, but makes some bad descisions in his own zone.

Here are some vids of Beaulieu...

He has the raw ability but he is likely a year away...unless the Sea Dogs grab him in the 5th round.
Other than Millier, i dont see a lot from Saint John. Kierstead on D, McLaughlin on D, Murphy and Spear in goal will both likely go late, Josh Carter is a good energy player.
