The teams are adding a twist to the home-and-home series over the Christmas holidays. Trying to add a little something to the rivalry, which I think we'd all agree has gotten pretty dull lately. Details coming tomorrow.

It will probably just be a friendly event between the 2 mayors or something. Having to wear the other teams jersey...etc

Maybe the Ushers in their rinks should have to wear the other or winners sweaters for the rest of season too and even have a flag of winner at losers rink too..

Don't laugh about the possibility of an outdoor game. Next year for the Canada games I understand that there are going to be four outdoor ice venues with ice plants installed in all. It would be interesting !

Sydney - The Battle of Nova Scotia is on and in a big way. The Halifax Mooseheads and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles announced today a unique event taking place this holiday season where the teams will be wearing special Nova Scotia jerseys to highlight their Provincial rivalry. The jerseys, which can be seen on both team’s websites, will be worn during the home and home series on Tuesday, December 29th in Sydney and back in Halifax on December 30th.
“Cape Breton and Halifax have been rivals for a long time and the players from both teams certainly understand that this is more than just another regular season game” stated Paul MacDonald, Screaming Eagles President.
“I grew up watching the Battle of Nova Scotia, so I don’t need to be told what these games mean to the Halifax Mooseheads” stated Mooseheads winger and Halifax native Gerrad Grant. It’s about each team, their fans and the entire organization not wanting to lose to their biggest rival. Every time these teams step on the ice together Provincial pride is on the line”.
“As a Cape Bretoner I always wanted to beat any team from Halifax no matter what sport I was playing” stated Screaming Eagles Captain Nick McNeil. “Ever since I came into the league this was always a big game for us. I know our team will be looking forward to keeping our winning streak against the Mooseheads going.”
Both teams will partner with Feed Nova Scotia on this event to collect non-perishable food donations for the Nova Scotia based charity. More details on the Battle of Nova Scotia and how to win one of these special one-of-a-kind jerseys will be released next week.

I'm not really sure what to think - cool or corny? Not sure how much it will really spice things up
edit oh yes, forgot to say that it's good to see a fundraiser of this sort, as donations to Feed NS are greatly needed.

Can't see it spicing things up too much. Its just another jersey. Interested to see what they'll look like, however.

Pictures of them are on the main page of Halifax's site...basically its just the NS flag, Blue and White, with team logo's on the shoulders.
I dont really see this doing anything for the rivalry...but its not like it will hurt, plus its for a good cause.
