Moncton visits the Metro Centre for a Friday night encounter with Halifax.
Records — Halifax: 7-23-0-2, sixth in Atlantic Division; Moncton: 18-10-1-2, tied for second in Atlantic Division. The Moose however are a more respectable 6-8-1 at the Metro Centre. Streaks — Halifax: one win, 4-5-1; Moncton: four wins, 6-4-0
Leading Scorers: Halifax: Tomas Knotek 31 GP 15 G 13 A 28 Pts, Gerrad Grant 28-12-14-26, Travis Randell 32-11-15-26 Moncton: Scott Brannon 29-18-10-28, David Savard 29-4-24-28.
Moncton's resent surge has come after they have added free agent goalie Shane Owen who is 5-1 since joining the WildCats.
The teams have met twice this year with Moncton handing Halifax their worse loss of the year 8-1 in Moncton. This was in early October when the Moose where in the midst of a 12 game losing streak. The Moose however took an exciting 2-1 victory at the Metro Centre in November.
Mathiew Corbeil's strong play has fueled Halifax's recent success and we need a strong game from him tonight to have a chance to pull off a win.
Moose are coming off a 2 out of 3 weekend and are hoping to make this one perfect.
GO MOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a tough loss to take - giving up a SH goal with less than 2 mins left.

That was a tough loss to take - giving up a SH goal with less than 2 mins left. stomach punch goal... As soon as Dan Robertson said "moose want to be careful not to give up a SH goal" I immediately felt like one was coming lol... The moose played so good too, really strong in the last 2 periods.. Corbeil was great, and then to give up that softy for the winner... tough loss for sure...

Let me throw this out there; I think whoever the ref was tonight I never want to see him again(Thayer Doyle No on in the Q Likes him PEI is always complaining about him did tonight's game no wonder it was awfully officiated) He was brutal thought there was one team on the ice everything against Halifax very few against Moncton; the 5 on 3 was nonsense thats all I have to say it was right after they tripped us in front of there net. Anyhow game report for you guys
1st started out real well for Halifax they were hitting every red jersey in sight; Matt was really good made a bunch of really good saves. Travis Randell also had a Penalty shot stopped by Shane Owen in the 1st. 2nd period the Moose scored off the draw about 30 seconds in; then took a ton of iffy called penalties by the ref; lots of good action up and down and both goalies were really good tonight, must add that Daniel Patterson was also stopped by Matt on a penalty shot. 3rd period Halifax ahead 2-1; Moncton ties it on yet another stupid penalty call; still Halifax stays with it lots of good action till about 1:30 left Moncton scores a shortie ,which should have never counted Matt had the puck covered but the ref we got tonight was an idiot and didn't blow the whistle they pot it; I must add Matt was really good tonight we have a solid future with this kid between the pipes!!! Also 2 pretty nice fights tonight Dillon Donelly vs Sawyer Hannah : I don't know if I would say anyone won this fight it was a good match I'd probably call it a draw. Randy Cameron vs Charles Bety Nice fight lots of rights; but clearly Bety won that fight this one lasted for about a min or two. And for the 4th game in a row I was right on with my prediction Second I was right on with the Score...Next up PEI tomorrow night then a rematch with Moncton Go Moose Go!!!
The 3 stars of the game were Scott Brannon(Mon)Gerrad Grant(Hfx) and Ted Stephens(Mon)

Frustrating game and Moncton seemed to keep getting some help to get back into the game and then had a soft shorty to win it. What pissed me off was Cameron skating off on a line change, his guy comes on and joins the play and then Cameron and Bety start fighting. Seemed like a pretty clear too many men as their 6th guy was rushing off the ice well after punches were being thrown. Great fight by Bety though. Then Clarke break his stick... was it slashed? Moncton seems to ice the puck and it gets waived off only to have Gillard rush back and put it over the glass. Killing the penalty Clarke takes a forearm in the face and then they called him for slashing on a line change... which was a bit of a soft call to put a team down 5 on 3. All of this was a sequence of about 1-2 minutes off the clock where nothing went Halifax's way and they ended up scoring.

I agree canbeer it was a frustrating game to watch there was a few soft calls tonight lets hope for better results vs PEI we could have won that game if Moncton didn't have the refs assistance.

The short handed goal sucked the wind out of the building but they were right there and played a damn good game. I really do like what I'm seeing from this team and with some high picks in the draft this year for the first time in years next year should be a lot of fun.

I really do like what I'm seeing from this team and with some high picks in the draft this year for the first time in years next year should be a lot of fun. We have looked nearly every bit as good as our opponents for the most part over the past month or so. Of course there will be some stinkers, but many games have been very even. While I always want a win, I dont mind comfortably sitting in that lottery pick spot That win streak a few weeks back brought us too close to the other bottom feeders for my liking
