Idon't get the feeling that Russell is bluffing, according to the last article he intended to discuss Clarke's trade with the owner. I personally see the only place where value could be obtained would be a trade with the Remparts, Patrick seems to like these edgy players.

Ive been saying that for a while (that Halifax is picking a dman 1st or 2nd overall).
Bobby Smith was quoted as saying they arent picking based on geography or position...im not about to say believe everything you read in the paper or hear an owner say, but in this case I think what hes saying is valid and true.
Yes Halifax has 7 returning dmen pretty much, if you count Lewis...but Poulin and Matheson project to be better at 18 than any of the dmen Halifax currently has. Defense is a premium position in the Q and Halifax can always make trades down the road.
Priority #1 should be to gather as much top end talent as possible, regardless of position.
Is the Dares kid gonna play in the Q or is he US Bound ? Where do you see him going LaLa ? I think the kid might be a Star , would love to see The Eagles get himbut he probably will be off the Board .

Q...likely mid/late 2nd round is where he will go....although I dont think id take him quite that high.
Even if Lagace was available for a 2nd round pick... no thanks. I'm not a fan at all. He seems to whine and complain a lot to the refs and like to flops around. I wouldn't be too keen on the Mooseheads using assets to pick up any 20 year olds next year let alone one that I don't think would be a good leader for the youth. He has failed in CB, cost them a lot and is pretty much their Marchand to this point.
As far as draft strategy the Moose have options and that's great.
Maybe somebody really wants to move up in the draft and wants a dman (maybe Bathurst) and we pick up another good asset or young player in doing so and then just pick a forward. Or if Cam doesn't get a good offer to move up he just pick the best player available. If that's a 16 year old Dman then that's fine... not like have a bit of spread in the age of our D won't help in the long run.
Now the question would become does drafting a Dman 1st or 2nd make another move on D necessary... I would think so. I don't think going with 8 Dmen when 7 of them have "experience" and the other in a 1st or 2nd overall draft pick is a great idea (if the 8th guy is a 2nd or 3rd rd pick it may make sense). The 17 year olds got a ton of experience last year and I think Bishop, Lewis and whoever our first round pick is needs to play lots next year.
So since the top pick looks like it could be a D what move would make sense among the rest of the D... maybe something to pick up a 17 ('93) or 18 ('92) year old forward would be nice. What could Bishop and a 2nd get us... that type of deal. Centre or RW would be nice... the left side looks pretty good for a few years with 17 year olds Desjardins, Gelinas and MacDonald.
