One thing I've noticed (And the guy who sits behind me at the game mentioned atleast 1000 times to buddy sitting with him) is the Eagles cannot throw many hits on the Cats D to wear them down... This is due to when the puck is dumped in deep, Riopel comes out behind the net and plays the puck! So the Cats D are not taking as many punishing checks on the for check.
I remember last Sunday at the final game one Saint John fan mentioned that CB was going to win on physicality alone because they'd wear down the Cats with all the crushing checks...
Time for the Eagles to draw a new game plan!

Does it really surprise anyone that Mario can't decide on line combos? He couldn't even decide on naming 1 captain for the team.
The thing about overplaying the D. Didn't we finish second to Moncton in GAA? I think the 5-6 guys did play a little in those games.

I'm not going to count us out as of yet as I've teams come back on the Eagles after we had 2-0 leads and 3-1 leads " Quebec and Val'Dor". Who knows maybe the boys will come out on Tuesday like a house on fire and play hockey the way they can. And who knows maybe Luke Adam might pot one since he hasn't scored in the past 3 or 4 games.

Paul MacDonald should be just as worried as Mario. I'm sure the axe is sharp enough to take care of both. Careful, this could turn into a Nicolas Bachand thread very quickly with that comment. That right there is pure gold.

That's exactly right, he gave ice time to Micallef and Ellis last year against a very good Quebec team and they played decent so I'm not quite sure why he won't play Fournier atleast. He's been playing his best hockey heading into the playoffs.

I'm trying to remain positive, it is just hard to find any positives from the last 4 periods.

I'm trying to remain positive, it is just hard to find any positives from the last 4 periods. That's the same way I feel. You don't want to throw in the towel this early in the series. But scoring 3 goals in 2 games is not going to win you playoff games. What makes it even worse it was guys like Ellis and MacDougall who scored, don't get me wrong you need goals from those guys to win in the playoffs but you need your big guns going. Like were has Adam, Hertzberg and the Lagace who put up 30 goals for the Sags gone ?

I'm trying to remain positive, it is just hard to find any positives from the last 4 periods. Moncton ONLY scored 11 Goals... That could be a positive to Mario maybe... But seriously... Positive for you guys is Tessier lost more faceoffs then he won last night! Overall as a team the faceoff circle was closer than Game 1... Moncton 32 Cape Breton 30... Other than that... Honestly... There isn't much to be positive from for the Eagles... Moncton is using it's speed and it is burning the D for the Eagles... Your big forwards have been pretty much invisible... There seems to be NO Heart with this team right now... Last night after the Cats scored, forget which goal it was... But Legault went on the bench, slammed his stick a few times and was verbally ripping at the team to wake up... And there was no acknowledgment from the bench, no one seemed to care.

this is the time for your captain to speak up, if he has any balls, you can,t blame mario for everything, the boys just aren,t giving it all.

Jack Bauer, I know that you're not supposed to lose like that when you're winning 3-1 near the middle of the 2nd period and I know the Eagles should be able to take advantage of Moncton missing 2 top 6 forwards and 2 top 5 D BUT tell me honestly, after watching this team play inconsistently from period to period and from game to game DOES THIS REALLY SURPRISE YOU? YES or NO? THIS surprises me. Being out scored 12-3 and the team seemingly giving up before the series even got started isn't what I expected. Nobody expected Lagace to give us as much heart as FP Guenette. They're down 4 players and we can't even create a breakout.

One of our best playoff performers in two trips to the finals, that FP Guenette? ;D

The thing that really bothers me is Mario overplaying the top 4 D. If he has no confidence in Fournier, Larade, Woodworth than he really should have sat down and had a good talk with his GM and asked him to pull off a trade to cover this teams weakness. I guess the coach and GM are just not on the same page!!! We're talking about a GM who traded picks to get 19yr olds who he admittingly can't even play in close playoff games. And brought in known head cases who....shockingly enough.....ended up being head cases. Luckily for us when we lose this season won't really be over. We get to sit around and wait for Kalin Paul's court date, trial, and sentencing before we can fully put a wrap on the 09-10 season

I was actually quite excited we were playing CB, considering the terrible regular season games we've had, I was looking forward to watching Legace potentially 4 big games here in the coliseum. I hadn't gotten much of a chance to see him over the years since he was in CHI. I couldn't be more disappointed, he has done absolutely nothing to impress me, so odd to see how Deschamps played when he came to the Cats, and then Legace go in the complete opposite direction with his play. Obviously being a Cats fan, not THAT disappointed, since I love the winning result, but other than on your PP, I dont get any sense of worry when your team moves into the offensive zone.. For this series to go the other way, the Eagles need a "Tessier" like effort from one of the big guns to tie up the series.
