Really?! You think? I always thought he was great. Not the most offensive dman, but, +/- 21 is pretty sick, imo Plus minus means little to me, my opinion is based on watching him. He was exposed more when he had to play too many minutes, watching Savard playing very similar minutes in that series showed that he wasn't a number 1 Dman and Savard was. I would definitely be comfortable with him as a 2 or 3 though...on a contender that is. A non contender he'd be fine as a number 1.

Brodeur's natural development was hurt because he was asked to play the role of a number 1 or 2 defenceman the past two years. He would have progressed better in terms of confidence and skill if he had been playing as a 3 or 4 D in a full 6 man rotation. Too many minutes played each night, especially in the playoffs, just led to mental and physical mistakes.
He still has to fill out his body but just practicing with the NHL players should help him recognize his own developmental needs and give him extra motivation for the off season and next year.

even if he had been recalled there would have had to be some sort of pandemic episode to get him dressed against Detroit
lots of ahl'ers whose teams are done were recalled for the playoffs... almost all of them will not dress

Mathieu Brodeur has gone to Phoenix to join the Coyotes as they begin their play-off bid on Wednesday. Their AHL team, the San Antonio Rampage, did not make the play-offs this year. Good luck Mathieu. I don't follow the AHL closely but I assumed this poster knew what he was talking about and he says the team did not make the playoffs

I did not say he is playing with the Coyotes I said he was" joining" them. Who is playing is up to the Coaching staff. He only played two games with the Rampage but did quite well. Them may use him in Practices with the other AHLers against the regular Coyotes. One never knows for sure. Get him some experience.
