Agree 100% but I didn't think he really did much until called upon when Benda got hurt. That was his big break and ran with it. So if Benda didn't get hurt and would have played well would have Olivier Roy ever been given the chance to put himself on the map as a 16 and 17 year old. Great competitor, great kid, great role model and all around great goalie for the Q. Didn't do much until Benda got hurt? Benda got hurt in late September. I don't know what you expected a 16-year-old rookie to do in the first two weeks of the season! May have read me wrong here. Benda was brought in to be number 1 and was 3-0 till he got hurt. Got a first star and 2nd star in first three games which were wins. What I meant by Roy was not doing much was in reference to being #1 on the radar. I am just saying if Benda didn't get hurt he may have had a good season where Roy would have learned the ropes in year one. He however was thrown in "baptismal by fire" when Benda got hurt and ran with the opportunity and never looked back. I don' think you will see a goaltender for a long long time step in as a 16 year old and do what Roy had done especially coming off a run the previous year.

olivier roy was one of the top goalies we had in the cape.............it is too bad he will be remembered as part of a stupid trade........any way he is better off, we will all see that. Thanks again mario and paul for your ingenious move.

You think that was an ingenious move ? Watch how he spins Today's Picks into the greatest draft ever ! The only thing I am happy about is the fact that there are a lot of fans that somehow thought all the rumours could not be true and now they know they are and they will be upset . When the Eagles Ticket Agents call you ............."tell them what you feel" !

Yes Hal I believe that OBR will be a NHL Superstar someday. He has all the tools needed. I know he needs a team in front of him to help out but in time I do think he will be a superstar. He is compareable to M.A Fleury. He is a superstar is he not? I maybe wrong but only time will tell.

Can't compare Fleury to Roy just yet, because they are at different stages of their career. Can't even say who is the best Cape Breton goaltender of the 2. Fleury had been built around by stronger contending teams, and aslo got to play in Cape Breton until he was 20. But as a Moose fan..... so I am abit bias and will throw Gigure in their and also Luongo from Bathurst, but I must say Cape Breton has had 2 of the best 4 Goaltenders ever to play for a Q team in the Atlantic provinces.

Fleury didn't play in CB at age 20... in fact he only played the last month and a half or so (plus a very ill-fated playoffs) of his 19yo season that was spent mostly in Pittsburgh - on one of the worst teams the NHL has seen in the 21st century! Roy was actually on stronger teams, on average, than Fleury. All three of Roy's seasons were on teams that won 40+ games, although he was left on his own quite a bit this past season. Fleury meanwhile started 51 games for an 02-03 team that gave up about 40 shots a night, and finished third-last overall. The 00-01 team he played for as a 16 yo was mediocre, below .500. The only strong team he played a full season for was the 2001-2002 team that knocked out Halifax in the 2nd round. And when debating who's the best CB goalie of all-time, it's actually a three-horse race. Don't forget about Ondrej Pavelec - it could be argued he was every bit as good as Fleury during his time here. And when Martin Houle, the Q's top goalie in 03-04, is only the fourth-best in team history....... you have one heck of a tradition of goaltending!

I'm hoping you see him in the AHL for 2010-11 Perhaps 2011-2012 ... but 2010-2011 he is not eligible for the AHL. He has been in the Q as a #1 for so long that people keep forgetting that he is just 19 this year. Forgive for rushing his progress, just anxious to see him in the cooper and blue
