I think you were told by two other posters that FRK played both positions similar to your guy Matheson. A check of the players Euro records would indicated that he played defence as well as forward.

You also laughed when people said he was a great player. You told us he wasn't very good...so why the Moose pick him? Because according to you he is not the best player available.

Would any of you think that we have a deal with him and let it be known to the two teams ahead of us that he would only report to the Mooseheads? Didn't that happen with the Gaborik Baie Comeau situation? The Bac situation was different, in that they didn't have a deal with any euro. So they drafted Gaborik, knowing Halifax had a deal with him, thinking they could then trade him for Pascal Leclaire. Halifax didn't bite, and BaC didn't lose anything, plus they kept Gaborik away from the Mooseheads. No Q team picks ahead of Halifax, so the two teams ahead of them would gain nothing by pulling the same move. Plus both teams already have deals with other players.

Matheson played forward for 2 games...and because of injuries to 2 of the lions top 6 forwards... Also the Lions used a dman up front for a large portion of the year. Anthony Cortese Jr. is a natural defense but played forward....they figured theyd try Matheson up front for a couple games and move Cortese back to D. But yeah sure...'my guy' Matheson played F as well...

If we are to believe John Moore on Twitter the Moose are "eyeing" a Finn, a Dane and a Norwegian in the import draft Looking at his tweets back at the draft, calling trades, picks etc., I don't put much stock into this.... other than the Mooseheads might be eyeing those guys, and determining which one will be plan 'B'.

Im sure Cam has back up options... Im 99% sure the Danish player is 1993 born forward Niklas Jensen. He shoots left, is 6'02 180 already. The Finn is probably either Joel Armia or Mikko Salomaki. There are obviosuly 2 other highly skilled Finns in Mikael Granlund and Teemu Pulkkinen but I doubt either comes over to NA and I believe Pulkinnen is already drafted by Kelowna. Armia is a sniper, shoots right, is 6'02 170. Salomaki is 5'11 190, he is more of an all-around offensive player. Salmoki and Armia are both 1993's like Frk and Jensen. The only Norweigen I can think of is the kid Toronto just drafted in round 2. Sonder Olden, he is a 1992 though.

Scouting report for the top 5 Euros available. www.metronews.ca/halifax/blog/post/565158Sounds like any of these guys would make an impact. It doesn't provide ages, but obviously a 17 year old would be preferred.
