Very scary, last report I heard was that he was awake and alert in hospital, and they were going to keep him over night for observation.

Wonder if he was just uptight, nervous and basically fainted ? Hope that is all the problem.

Wonder if he was just uptight, nervous and basically fainted ? Hope that is all the problem. In October, for a game that more or less means nothing? Its not his first NHL start or anything. He was out for a LONG time. Pretty frightening.

Pavelec was released, but, still no explanation as to why he collapsed. Does anyone else find it strange that he was released BEFORE the cause was determined? I mean, I'm not a doctor and I'm sure they wouldn't have released him if they didn't think it was okay, but, still odd, in my opinion.

They have done a bunch of tests that all came up negative. What more can they do? They could keep him there until another episode occurs, but he may never have another one.

Hope he gets cleared to resume his career, it was a scary scene to watch on the replays. Has there been any talk of previous episodes of fainting or any heart issues?

They have probably done CT Scans MRI'S blood work, ecg's etc. What else can they do? You have to remember that all these test cost money and the US is no different than Canada, in the fact that there is a shortage of nursing personal as well as Doctors. Not to mention a shortage of hospital beds ( long term care beds) and the always crowded emergency rooms. I hope Pavelec is alright and can resume his career and never has another episode. But I do not find it strange in the least.

Could be just keeping it hush hush if it was indeed nothing too serious. They did say it was nothing life threatening and as fireball said it could have been related to nerves (although to a heightened degree). Yes, it could be nerves, Christopher, as people get nervous for various reasons and just can't shake the feelings. Do you have no nerves for a 4th year university exam in a subject you absolutely loath? You've written exams for 4 years...should be used to them.... If not, good for you, but for the normal person, yes.....so try to apply that reasoning to a young NHL goalie about to face a tough team. Just a thought (expanding on fireball's thoughts)
