Leave it up to MooseTalk to turn a thread about how the Mooseheads will do this season, to a talk about Rugby. Next Wednesday can't come soon enough. ;D Forcing discussion when there's nothing to discuss inevitably leads to it going off topic. Case in point- talking about goalie gear in an Andrew Ryan thread. I understand the context, but the thread is no longer about Ryan lol. Touché good sir. That's another example of what going off topic can do. The fact that Ryan and Frk were going to that development camp was mentioned in another thread. But when it's hidden in a thread it doesn't belong in, it's hard to see. Leads to a lot of duplication of discussion. I was thinking of making a thread where people voted on who our 20yos would be. But that discussion has been beaten to death so much in other threads that it would be worthless to start another one, even if it focuses on that topic.

Don't worry, 10 days from now, most people won't be able to keep up with the amount of posts. Enjoy the relatively relaxed forum browsing while you can.

See? Told ya I knew nothing about rugby Rugby and Cricket are the 2 sports that I get confused about the rules. I do know that Canada is better at both than you'd think. We beat the USA in a friendly on Saturday. Leave it up to MooseTalk to turn a thread about how the Mooseheads will do this season, to a talk about Rugby. Next Wednesday can't come soon enough. ;D Beating the US at Rugby is not an achievement and it does not prove that we are better than others think. IMO we are one of the worst Commonwealth countries at Rugby and Cricket. We have some promising young cricket players coming into the system (bound to happen with our immigration trends). BUT we are an also ran when it comes to the real countries. We can't even beat the West Indies and look at the population. At cricket we are like Norway in hockey. We should be better but other sports interest us more (baseball). Now before anyone says Cricket is boring - you have not seen Twenty20 form of cricket. Comparable to Baseball in length, but mite exciting. Now training camp ]needs to start so we stop talking aboot cricket. :-)

Grant it I find soccer/football boring as well and its one of the most watched/played games in the world. But of course all you need is a ball or cheap round replica to play which helps less fortunate people.

I'm not sure how much Canada spends developing amateur Rugby and Cricket players, but I'm willing to guess it's a bit less than it spends on soccer, basketball, baseball, football or hockey. I guess I just think about soccer and that there are amateur soccer leagues everywhere, but Canada still can't qualify for the WC. Seems like we're in the WC of rugby every time. I don't follow the sport enough for my opinions to carry any weight. (Insert "Do you follow hockey?" joke... I admitted that me calling the rules "confusing" was unfair, given that I just don't know them because I don't watch the sports. I won't call them boring because I've never given them a chance.
