If you just go to watch a game and take your time nursing some beers then it likely would present a be happy experience no matter what.
Expectations often ruin most things as you can see by many posts on here.

The new Finbars in Portland Hills is a prime example of being well-prepared in advance of opening. They opened with flawless service right out of the gate. I wouldn't doubt if they split up some of the new workers between the new location and the one in Sunnyside Mall. Just to ease the growing pains. I wonder what Gordon Ramsay would say.

The staff was all new, but may have trained at the original location. What they did do was have a couple of nights where they had customers (by invite only) and had a dry run to see how things go. Smart way to do business, and by all accounts, they hired good quality staff. I frequent the new location, food is great, service is excellent and they never run out of my favourite draft.

I agree with you, but it's just not the norm for a restaurant/bar to offer good service or food in the first week or two of operation. Your example is the minority in my experience, unfortunately. But honestly with the same ownership as the Palace, I really don't expect much from a service standpoint, and ultimately that will be their downfall. I have heard quite a few bad experiences so far. The only hope I have is that they announced they won't open until 4:30pm this week due to staff training, so it seems they are attempting to address the issue. Although service/experience should be the primary focus for any establishment to provide right out of the gate. I just know better so i'm going to wait a while so I don't ruin it for myself lol As long as you are not on a schedule (Moose game), most males can be occupied with cold beer if the food service is slow...like myself. I wasn't aware it was the same ownership. I hope for their sake, they don't have the same late evening clientele. Bad (weak) openings can be an early death blow that you can't recover from. Porters and Muster Station (same location on Portland Street) perfect examples of not being able to recover from very poor service. Gave each of them the benefit of the doubt going back a week later. I wasn't sucker enough to go back a 3rd time.

They've fallen victim to their own success in some ways - the opening generated a lot of buzz and there's been massive crowds every night since it opened. Throw in the "normal" hiccups that come with opening a huge establishment and it's not that surprising that there would be a few setbacks in the first week.

As per their twitter account at 11:00 Sat night's game is sold out, our first sell out of the season. If you don't have tickets thats too bad for you, for those that do have fun thankfully I was smart enough to include this one in my 15 game pack.

This from SC74 last month when the Moose were playing in Quebec City:" It's probably going to be the biggest crowd in Quebec this season. There were free tickets given at the grocery store." To the best of my knowledge, the Mooseheads do not give tickets away. Consequently, I wouldn't place much value in the numbers coming out of Quebec translating to actual PAID attendance. Based on sheer demographics there is no doubt the attendance would be higher than Halifax, but there is reason to believe the numbers are slanted. Not that it matter ... just figuring!

Pretty sure we've had minor hockey nights in the past when we've given away literally 1000s of tickets to minor hockey players. Every team does it to a certain extent. Quebec had 8000 season ticket holders last year. Unsure what they have this year.

Pre Bobby days lot's of tickets where given away, not so now, minor teams get a discount depending on how many they purchase, done it a few time with my kids teams, nothing is free anymore.

I'm guessing less than that; especially with Patrick Roy having moved on and the uncertainty as to how the team would proceed without him. I'm not sure what their average attendance has been so far this season; the Remparts have Quebec City to themselves in terms of the "big league" sports market. They have the 4th best record in the QMJHL. Edit: after research, their attendance this season has gone down 1,975 per game from 11,345 per game to 9,370.

That is not too bad considering the loss of Roy and the fact that they did not start the season too hot.
