I agree with you completely. It doesn't make sense for Tampa Bay to trade their face of the franchise; especially when they are in good playoff position. Even if they trade MSL, they are not trading the face of the franchise, that is Stamkos. As for where they are this year. Stevie Y would be looking at things long term. If that means getting good players he "might" make that happen. But it isn't going to be for Callahan - that would be a rental player. I should have said St. Louis is ONE of the faces of the franchise, having been their for such a long time; I believe he was there when the won the Stanley Cup in 2004 vs. Calgary. He's very popular down there, and a lot of fans would find it hard to swallow if he were to be dealt. As for their long term, trading him would be the best thing for them, though some of the fans wouldn't take kindly to it, at least at first. If they win another Cup in the near future, they'll say a St. Louis trade helped us win, so it was a good thing. Trading MSL for Callahan wouldn't make ANY sense for TB; I'm sure other parts would be involved if that trade happens.

If anyone is going to understand the process and the rationale behind Yzerman and co's decisions, it's be him. I think the only way he'd want to be traded is if it was to NYR to be closer to home. But that trade doesn't really work for the Rangers. Having to give up picks/prospects for a 38 year old doesn't make a lot of sense. And would Tampa really want Ryan Callahan? It'd only make sense if they signed him in the off season, and with what Callahan is asking for, they have what could be a cheaper version (Albeit not much) in Ryan Malone. Murph mentioned it in an earlier thread: If Tampa wants Drouin in the NHL, they'll make room for him. Or they'll trade him. But if Drouin is in the NHL, he'll be in the top 6 of any team he's on. It would be dumb to put him anywhere else.

It's at this point where we, collectively, have to say that he has nothing left to prove at this level.

If he could prove to me and the rest of Moose Country that he can get hit and slashed without taking a temper tantrum, and that he can be a leader by example when it comes to keeping his cool and not retaliating, that will go along way in cementing his place with Tampa next year, and upping the Moosehead's chances at another title significantly.

Good point Reesor. I'm hedging bets that he has been waiting this moment to show his stuff as a leader. I would also suspect that Tampa has talked to him about next year, and how the next 16 wins will go a long way in him cemented hios position going forward. He loves the big showcase, and if he is in the right frame of mind he is going to make everyone around him look better, with style and composure. I'm looking forward to big things. It's show time for JoJo!

Sending him back to Junior will not help that, it would only make it worse.

He deals with a ton of abuse and plays through pretty much all of it. But people make a big deal when he gets pissed off and reacts. There is a guy in Pittsburgh who reacts to abuse now and then too, and he is still pretty good

Oh so he has to be a total bitch and not react when he gets checked from behind, speared in the nuts, slashed on his wrists and you'll be happy with that lol.

A spot may have just opened up in Tampa for Drouin, if there wasn't already one for him. Ryan Malone has been charged with DUI and cocaine possession.

Malone will be suspended internally for one game and play in the playoffs. This type of thing rarely has any effect on a player's career. If any jail time results from it, it'll be in the off-season ala Brysgalov. I said before that I'd like him to mature. He has put this team on his back in the playoffs and shown he can take hacks and slashes without retaliating. He took 2 minor penalties in the series. One was for hooking, which he had to take or Poirier (I think) would've been in on a breakaway. The other wasy for goalie interference which was ridiculous and unintentional. I couldn't believe he had the "C" in the Super Series, and an "A" at the World Jrs. He has shown he can lead by example. I don't think he'll need a spot to open up on Tampa next year. He will be on their 2nd line in October. Good on him too. He's too smart to be doing was he was doing earlier in the year.
