The Olympiques are probably the worst team to play against in the series, year after year. They will push to the very end and beyond, even when you think they are down and out, they come back flying like bats out of hell. They never, never quit. The team that beats us in a four out of seven is going to the memorial, it’s them or us. Wow is that the movie trailer for your team lol ? You do remember you are still playing a rebuilding team, right? And both games were in your rink. Give CB there home games AT LEAST before crowning yourself champions.

LOL. You do remember you finished 8th right? We sure are not a team to measure up against. Your most likely getting halifax or bc next round. Taking that many dumb calls against either one of those teams and you lose in 5.

As I mentioned quite a bit early in the season, the Eagles are an OK Maritime division team, but against the real teams of the western loop of the Q they just can't compete - and it won't change in 2 years or 4 years.
They need size, they need toughness, they need big strong physical players that get their noses dirty. Gatineau isn't even as big as teams like Val D'or or Victo and they are manhandling the Eagles.
Yes, it is way better than it was last season, no questions asked - but expecting a non-physical team like this to compete against real teams is a pipe dream.

This team went from 18th to 9th and you've had little good to say the entire time. Now after 2 rough games you're writing them off for 2 to 4 years(!!!!!!!!). Nobody has said this rebuild is done. There are holes that most of us expected to be exposed against better teams, including myself when I argued that this team pulling off an upset was not likely. This team has few real 19/20 year old veterans and it lost 2 of them for that 2nd game. Injuries are just excuses sure but for a young team losing 2 players like Hache and Farrell really hurts. But you are the only person willing to completely throw away the development of the Bishops, Lazarevs, Bells and Lalondes because of a bad weekend.

Not sure physical play is the reason for two losses. Count playoff games combined that the players on each team have played, look at the average age of the two teams, look at the players drafted on the two teams. As mentioned very often, when they have a realistic shot you grab two or three pieces that are physical role players but you do not build around those guys. You build around bishop, gauthier, lazerev, Pelletier, Lalonde, bell, leveille. My recommendation is that you watch mma as hockey has changed from the drop your gloves and hit everything that moves.

Do you know how this team is going to develop? Do you know the draft picks of the next 2 years? Do you understand the development/rebuilding system of junior hockey? As JB said and as MOST of the people here have said, why not be excited for the huge strides they made this year? Imagine you've made a significant personal accomplishment at work but someone kept telling you it wasn't good enough over and over and over again. Let's encourage these kids who really put heart into this season and DID VERY WELL. This kind of pessimistic view doesn't fit on these boards.

After the two games I would like to make some comments as an Olympiques season's ticket holder.
Your goaltending was good. Your team works hard and sticks to hockey. You seem to have a good coach who has his boys playing a good style of hockey. I like your team and I like your chances next year. From what I can tell from these two games your guys are a class act!
But the Olympiques have too much firepower and too much speed for you to stop this season.

I watched both games this weekend on Telus, which admiittedly isn't the best quality but..
The Eagles are not being beaten because we are being physically beaten, they were beat by skill and experience. Reway, Poirier etc. up front are experienced and very skilled and the Eagles defence, especially with Hache not at 100%/ out of the lineup, are very challenged by that group. Gatineau's defence do not give you a lot as they did not make many mistakes and have the ability to counterattack. The Eagles, on the other hand, have very little Q playoff expereince. Even our 19 year old leading scorer has none!
Having said this, the Eagles can still make this a series but winning game three, it goes without saying, is crucial. Part of the key will be making better decisions by our skaters as there has been too many giveaways and missed assignments. But, in playoffs, things can change very quickly so we will see what happens.

I received a text from a buddy of mine who is now living in Ottawa . He is a lot bigger Ottawa 67's Fan who has seen them play 20-25 games this year . He did take the opportunity to go over and see his former Home Town Team play in Gatineau . His text said , " I am shocked that there are so many empty seats in the Bob" and the way that the Olympics are buzzing around , good thing that The Eagles have good goaltending ".....his words not mine but I thought it should be mentioned .

" I am shocked that there are so many empty seats in the Bob" This has been a serious problem for a long time. I blame management, and so do a lot of other people. The music is way too loud, there are too many distracting side shows, the prices keep going up, the hot dogs are puny, the team is very inconsistent, the coach is a moron who mistreats the players causing many of them to quit or demand a trade, the ice conditions are often very bad (they were bad for both games this series), the marketing sucks... read our Olympiques forum if you want some laughs.

Your buddy is right. Bureau is not to blame at all. That being said, as a Piques fan, I'm still not fully confortable. This team can be dominant (they did beat every single team this season, including Baie-Comeau twice), but they can be awful too. You never know when the switch will be on or off. Guys like Poirier et Reway can be top 5 in this league or look lazy and not motivated. Despite 2 blowouts, I'm not ready to say this serie is over.

In a seven game series you are not in trouble until you lose a game on home ice.
