Hodge reported this morning that he (Martel) broke his collar bone and is likely done for the season. I thought it was Martel, but could have sworn there was a C on his jersey......I thought Picard was their captain.....maybe I just imagined the letter. Either way, he and Tesink are their top 2 goal scorers.....with them gone, I think the series turn hugely in Moncton's favour. I don't think so ... even after both players were gone they still had more skill/talent/speed than we do. It certainly creates an opening for us ... but I think they are still favoured. We have shown that we can beat them when we work our tails off ... but we need great goaltending and some lucky breaks to win 2 more. Today, we only need to win Sunday ... one game ... we'll worry about winning the series another day.

Great job by the Wildcats. Last year's team would have folded like a cheap tent after Armada tied the game on a weak/fluky goal but this year's team showed great character to battle back. The hit was really bad, I can hope Tesink gets suspended but my real concern is Holwell's health. He's been the best 16 year old d-man I've seen since Gormley's rookie season and it would be a shame for it to end like that. Sometimes you can blame the victim because they have a tendency to turn at the last second but Holwell had his face to the boards the entire play. Just a terrible hit. Another great game and effort by Barbashev. Amazing re-direct on the first goal and a great effort on his second goal. The refs should have whistled that play dead even if they weren't sure it went in. Everyone stopped playing and then next thing you know Blainville has an odd-man rush. Kinda funny for the call on the ice to be a goal before reviewing it but they kept play going until the next whistle. The Ref waved it off when it happened and he apparently (insert sarcasm here) had the best view ... tough for anybody else to whistle it down then. They had to continue playing at that time, but many did stop as you said. After the whistle, the linesman immediately went to the Ref and his body language said he saw it go in ... so the Ref checked with the goal judge who said it went in. So the Ref changed his call on the ice to "goal" because his colleagues out-numbered him ... I guess. In his defense, he was on the boards near to where the shot/chip came from and Marcoux (and likely other players) probably blocked his view of the far post to see the puck actually get in behind it. If he doesn't see it go in then he has to wave it off ... and no whistle should be blown. I know what happened. I was there. I don't have any video to support my claim but it's been done before.

They are still the favourites.

Sure it helps the Wildcats but we aren't suddenly favored and let's not count our chickens before they hatch. This is the QMJHL we're talking about, the team right down the street from head office has a player facing possible suspension, don't get your hopes up that it will be a long one. Random series stat: BLB is 3-0 when Martel scores. They are 0-2 when he doesn't.

I've seen it done before also ... but it was because the Ref could not make a call (which is perhaps what he should have done) because he didn't see what happened. I've seen it happen when the Ref gets tangled up on the boards with players and is just trying to get out of the way ... a linesman will recognize the problem and blow the play down ... but that would be for a rather obvious goal. Where he waved it off in this case, he made the call (as if he saw it), so the play continues ... and the play was not quite as obvious. In the old 3 man system (which we played last night also ... but not at the time of the goal) ... it was often a linesman making a goal call because he was further up ice on a rush. I've never seen a linesman over-rule a goal waved off and blow the play down. In this day and age of video review, it is easy to fix later on.

This is the Q where anyone can win any given game, so Of course it isn't a given that you win,.............. but if they were missing those 2 for the entire series, a lot of people would have picked you to win it. .....The only disadvantage is that you are down a game with the next 2 on the road. I don't find it strange at all that the 2 games you won were the ones where you played hard right from the first shift and onward.....it's the playoffs and that should be done all the time. Maybe you need a better coach/motivator?

Huge to lose Martel & Tesink.. those two have combined for 9 of BLB's 18 goals in the series.

Hodge reported this morning that he (Martel) broke his collar bone and is likely done for the season. Wow... even if BLB can hold on for the series win, they are toast in round 2, especially if Tesink gets something like 4 games. they were going to be toast in round two anyway.... but yeah maybe they don't even make round two now

The lack of intensity we showed for most of games 1, 3 and 4 has to be the partial fault of the Coach. I like what he did last night to start the game but why did it take us 45 mins in games 3 and 4 to start playing with intensity ? Rumble can't be given a free pass.

Most people predicting at the start of the season had you fighting for the 3rd spot, which you ended up in. In the season preview predictions thread, the average points for Moncton was 65 and you ended up with 69....so they basically ended up achieving the results everyone thought you would.....if you had added Tkachev earlier, or had less injuries to key guys you would have finished higher. The post season is when you have to turn it up a notch....if you are only doing that 2 out of every 5 games, the motivation needs to be turned up a notch too....that is the coach.

I would not give Rumble a free pass...everyone should be held accountable...but I can forgive a lot if it seems like adjustments are being made. He is learning and adapting to the league just like most of the roster. I just expect inconsistency with a young team...we only have 2 veteran skaters who have been with the club more than one season (Lalonde and Haas).

A lot had to go right for this team to push 70 points...I think 65 was probably optimistic before the season started. As a fan, this year could have been a long season...breaking in a ton of young players...only two D who even played in the league last year. By all rights this could have been 07-08 again, but without the draft lottery to look forward to. But instead...we saw a hard working bunch who were easy to cheer for and give hope for the future...The only rookie to fall short of expectations was White....that is a pretty good success rate. The team was rarely blown out and had a good road record...and played Halifax tough all season. Now if the team pulled a Cape Breton...I would call out the coach.

Your last point is confusing, what about Barbashev, Sweeney, Johnson, Garland? If you meant more than 2 seasons, then it would only be Lalonde and Sweeney (not Haas).
