why is there even a discussion about fortier in the lineup? assuming andrews is back there would be no need to insert fortier into the lineup.

He had 20 goals in 19 games. 13 of them were assisted on by Drouin. But they were linemates in the regular season. So yah, Drouin has played a big part. But anyone who plays on a line with Drouin will be dangerous. Gadoury had 5 goals in 4 games in the first round (none in the 11-3 game) and only one was assisted on by Drouin. In a healthy lineup, Ehlers is on the 2nd line with Andrew Ryan and Brent Andrews. Other than on the power play, Ehlers and Drouin were split up for the most part in the regular season. With Darcy Ashley out, Ehlers and Drouin will more than likely be together on the 1st line. Would it be crazy to try Fortier on a line with Drouin and Gadoury? I understand the mentality of having a goal scorer on a scoring line instead of a checking line. But for me that's too much pressure to put on a 16yo kid that has 3 games of Q experience. He would need some time to adjust to the speed of the game at this level. I'd almost think about doing it in the regular season, but not in the playoffs.

The biggest factor in this series is how we handle Gatineau's chippyness. They were 2nd in the league in team PIM, including the leader (Sheppard) and 2 guys that get a lot of ice (Dunn and Poirier) 5th and 17th respectively.
We were able to keep tempters and frustration in check against Charlottetown but this is a much more dangerous team. It can add to the frustration if you aren't scoring, or down a couple of goals in a game.
We will have to be disciplined and the powerplay will have to produce to win this series. We have an edge in top 6 forwards, top 4 defense and goaltending. We just have to stay out of the box and capitalize on PP's.

The good thing is that we played these guys last year so most of our guys know what they will be up to. Its easy to say "just ignore them". It`s harder to do in realty all the time lol. We can only hope that the refs will make the right calls early on which would help deter some of the subtle interference type play that Groulx seems to be a fan of.

Dunn can be an excellent agitator, you will have to resist getting suckered by him. Both Dunn and Poirier can take a lot of dumb penalties, and I am sure that Groulx will be doing all he can to avoid them. We are not what I would call a chippy team, though all of the penalties might suggest that we are. Again, the team tends to take a lot of dumb penalties that they will need to avoid. Sheppard gets a lot of his penalty minutes in fights, though he too takes some dumb penalties as well. Benoit Groulx is the farthest thing from a good coach. I think that Gatineau will stick to hockey and try to win with hard work, discipline and speed. They are not the type of team that will try to beat Halifax by intimidation.

I look at this series as, yes, Gatineau has firepower, they have the potential to beat us, but if that happens, we'll beat ourselves in some of those games (ie: lose composure, and waste scoring opportunities). I just don't see that happening. I'm sure we will take a few frustration penalties at times, but not make a habit of it enough to let Gatineau control games and ultimately win the series. Moose are too experienced to let any of that extra stuff get them off their game. Plus, we all see a powerplay, that was mediocre in the regular season, on fire right now. Yes, I know it was only PEI, but our puck movement and shot selection have been excellent. We'll have no problem letting Dunn run around and take penalties. You don't think Drouin knows exactly what's going to happen lol? He's played his whole life like that....guys shadowing him, trash talking. It doesn't bother him.

Just read that Andrews are Hardie are back for game 1, Ashley is not. Hopefully Ashley is back soon but having the other two back is a huge relief...

Excellent news. So Ashley is our only injured player...not bad. We can make due, as long as he's not out too too long.
We're better off then some others teams. Vanier (BaC) and Martel (BLB) both gone for the year. And we just saw Quebec bounced, mainly because of injuries. So all in all, we're ok.

Last year Chapman was the biggest agitator- downright dirty at times. I'm glad he's gone this year. Couldn't have wished a better fate for him to be honest.
