They actually traded Halabi for a 6th and a 12th. We can assume that the 12th will probably be an American. Great Return! If you ask me, Halabi wasn't even going to be on the team next year. We actually have a logjam of bodies up front right now, so smart idea to flip a few depth guys for picks. Lalonde Barbashev Johnson Simpson Tkachev (hopefully) Pugsley Garland Smith Seeger Bower Olivier Jacob Cormier Leger Tibbo That is 15 right there, before current draft picks or FAs ... we also have 19 y/o's Whitlock, Bradley and Drover, all of whom I would think are longshots based on their age. The best case would be to move Barbashev for a big return and try to add impact young players, then Sweeney and Dubeau at midseason...but I know that won't happen.

Wrong, they have 2 2nd round picks Didn't the GM say a few months back that they didn't a have a 2nd before the Penny trade? The Q site lists moncton with the 27th and 29th pick

The Q site lists moncton with the 27th and 29th pick I think I remember Shannon saying that too, about not having a second rounder. For some reason I think that second may be traded but I hope I'm wrong and the draft order is right. Edit: The 2015 second rounder is gone in the Danault trade but the 2014 one seems to still be with the Cats. I imagine there are going to have to be some more trades to try and clear out some bodies since there is a long jam up there with 15 of them and maybe some free agents or draft picks that come in and impress. I bet the first pick or two are defenceman or goaltender though since Moncton is super thin there.

What pick does Moncton for the Euro draft? is it 23rd? They could still get a really good euro there and it would suck to have to give him up if all three show up. Trading either Tkachev or Barbashev would be the smart thing to do but I doubt that would happen. Really sucks that you can't trade Euro picks or players that haven't yet been here a year. Kills an asset for the cats.

Crazy how little has been written on the Cats the last 2 months...usually you have a few articles on what is brewing for the draft or possible moves...most teams have had rumors and trades.

Kyle Haas has apparently signed on to play junior A for the Woodstock Slammers in 2014-15.

I really hope they don't give up a second or third round pick for a 20 year old. The wildcats need young players more than anything especially on the back end (I actually think they have some nice forward prospects) with d-men and goalies. I think out of those 2 positions the wildcats only have one player under the age of 18 who could turn out to be a stand out and it's Holwell. Even when you include the 18 year olds for goalies and defenceman I still think Holwell is the only that projects to be an impact player unless the high profile Americans show up from last draft. I really hope they keep all the picks they have in the higher rounds and grab a young goalie and some defencemen

Out of all the 96-97 group only one or two project top be top half of a roster players(top 6 F top 4 D #1 G). Sure 1 or two may develop better than anticipated, but not something you plan your future on. Plus if they decide on going for this in 14-15, it will further deplete the cupboads to add a top d-man and a couple top 6 forwards.

Rumour is Hoyles has been traded to Sherbrooke.
If true , I'm not sure they'll be trading Talbot Tassi as well to keep some experience on the blueline.

I saw that Pens interviewed Rumble last night. Did anyone catch it? Did he say anything interesting?

I saw that Pens interviewed Rumble last night. Did anyone catch it? Did he say anything interesting? He seems to think Malatesta, Mcleod and Tkachev all have a good chance of being here which leaves only two holes to fill. _____ - Barbie - Tkachev Garland - _______ - Lalonde 3rd line would be a combination of Pugsley, Simpson, Olivier, Smith and Johnson. Defense would be something like this, very interchangeable: Mcleod-Malatesta Sweeney - Johnston Holwell-Klebanskyj The only thing set in stone is goaltending. Dubeau - Rioux
