No need to fight 5mins into the game. Just play hockey and be physical presence. 2nd shift of the game, and he's sent out with two guys he doesn't normally play with (Meier and D. Moynihan). I'd say Vuic did exactly what he was sent out to do. Quite likely Ducharme didn't envision the extra 5 out of the scenario, but hard to hang that on Vuic.

Same guy, Sheppard. Your boys showed better form and discipline that period. How do u fight the same guy twice in the same sequence? Vuic basically kept throwing punches after he landed on sheppard. It was all durin the same fight. Not worthy of an agressor IMO but definatly a penalty. Refs were very inconsistent in the first but that got better when they just decided to let everything go both ways but at least it was both ways.

That's exactly what an aggressor is and to be fair is consistently called. Once the linesman come in and you continue to throw, they call it an aggressor.

I don't think Vuic should have kept throwing punches, but Shepard wasn't innocent either. Sheppard refused to let go even when Vuic tried to get off him, I mean he almost literally ripped his jersey off. Maybe punching the guy isn't the best solution to get him to let go but, when the guy is trying to get off you and you want not to get punched, maybe use your head and let him go. The 5 minute penalty was unreal. Also, I gotta say, Ciampini is playing the best hockey of his career right now. I don't think he belongs on Drouin's line but he's putting in an honest effort and logging quite a few minutes and playing really well in both ends of the ice. He's still a bit too slow on his feet to keep up with Drouin/Ehlers/Gadoury tho.

One guy I'd like to see up his game a little bit is Andrews. He hasn't been himself in this series IMO. Not generatating a whole lot of chances for himself. Hopefully the empty netter will provide a spark for him. Vuic is obviously gone for next game. But if all goes well, hopefully he'll be replaced by Darcy Ashley, which is just a slight upgrade. Also, does anyone know what happened with Pepin at the end of the 2nd period? He didn't come back for the 3rd. Taylor Burke left the game as well.

He took a slapshot off his foot killing a penalty in Halifax and left the ice for a shift or two. He also left the ice in one of the games in Halifax and headed straight to the dressing room. He came back with a wrist tapped up.

Vuic vs Sheppard courtesy hockeyfights.com
He didn't grab Schumacher like I said earlier. He continued to punch Sheppard while he was down on the ice. Sheppard did his job to goad him into it by keeping ahold of his jersey.

It's still not even close to worthy of a 5 minute major and 1 game suspension. But when you play for an anglophone team in the Q, what can you expect?
I'm sure if it was the other way around, the league would review the call and rescind the automatic suspension. Won't happen with us on the receiving end though, you can bet your bottom dollar on that.

Lost in all of this is that Lovell was suspended for a hit on Sheppard as well. I'm not sure the league has ever NOT taken the opportunity to suspend a Moosehead when given the chance - in playoffs it's become quite a tradition.

We could very easy "send in the tape" of Beauregard's cross-check to the neck of Ehlers that went undetected as well. It wasn't intentional by any stretch. But I've seen us get suspended for less. I'll take a Vuic for Beauregard trade-off.

BUT a 5 minute major penalty could have killed them in the game.

The team should be able to challenge the automatic one game suspension, but I doubt that goes very far. I agree it shouldn't have been an aggressor, but I'm not surprised it was called.

I don't know about aggressor. To me that means you're fighting an unwilling player. However Vuic was off Sheppard, and then overpowered the linesman to land a couple extra punches on a player who couldn't defend himself. He could have easily been given abuse of official, which is a worse penalty to be given.
