Vuic has gained a reputation, but let's look at this tape: At the 12 second point, Number 6 from Gatineau pushes with both hands the Number 49 player from Halifax. The Gatineau No 6 should have known, or ought to have known he was challenging Halifax No 49 to a fight. At the 14 second point, the Gatineau No 6 is the first player to drop his gloves; again, suggesting the invitation to a fight. At the 27 second mark, Halifax no 49 throws one punch with the Gatineau player in a vulnerbale position. At the 32 second mark, it is clear No 6 from Gatineau is not releasing the Halifax player sweater, which prohibits the Halifax player from removing himself as being directed by the linesman. This is clear from the circular motion of the Halifax player - akin to swinging on the end of a pendulum. In fact, at the 34 second mark it is visable the Halifax player has used his left free hand in an effort to pull his sweater from the grasp of the Gatineau player. Once the linesman has removed the Halifax player from the altercation at second 33, there is no evidence the Halifax player threw subsequent punches. In fact, all indications show the Halifax player made an effort to remove himself while the Gatineau player restricted that extraction due to maintaining a grasp on the Halifax player sweater.
If I were Halifax, I would send this tape in with this type of analyses. This clearly was a wrong call by the on ice official, by indicating there was a second fight initiated by the Halifax player.
Although this is now water under the bridge, a 5-minute major in the case clearly could have had serious implications in the outcome of a pivot game and dramtically affected the outcome of the series.
I believe it was Reesor who earlier said "Same rule book, different language." Case closed!

I don't know about aggressor. To me that means you're fighting an unwilling player. However Vuic was off Sheppard, and then overpowered the linesman to land a couple extra punches on a player who couldn't defend himself. He could have easily been given abuse of official, which is a worse penalty to be given. Are we seeing the same fight? Abuse of officials? He only went back at Sheppard (and to what extent, we can`t really see) because Sheppard had a hold on his jersey and he couldn`t back up. I didn`t see him overpower anyone.

Theres till hasn't been anything posted on the Q site. Perhaps the Prefect of Discipline is reviewing to see what additional sanctions might be imposed. ;>)

stooy44 - I noticed on the french boards and on Twitter, a lot of Olympiques fans are bashing Reway. He has 4 points in 4 games this series, so he could be doing better. But he seems to be doing ok. It sounds like some people have had a problem with him all season. Why is that?

I guess as opposing fans, watching him speed up and down and attempt, sometimes successfully, dekes and creative moves makes us nervous - whereas his home fans probably see a selfishness and/or lack of using his teammates more...

Entertaining series to follow from the outside and read Gatineau's fans comments and Halifax' fans. Both blaming refs and the league for favoring the other team.

It`s one of those series that there could be some type of penalty on every shift if you look closely. Both teams have probably embellished at times due to the lack of calls on so many other things.

I guess it's easier to tolerate when you're winning games. Or if you have someone like Drouin who attempts to deke the whole team sometimes, but more often than not will deke 2 guys and make the perfect pass to an open teammate for a scoring chance. Frk used to try to deke the whole team out, and would fail more often than not. We'd get on him for it too, so I guess when you look at it that way it isn't surprising that Piques fans are getting on Reway for it.

The same fans said Reway was clutch in the first round against Cape Breton.

There was a lot missed last night on both sides. Ciampini tripped up someone blatently late in the 3rd last night, and there was no call. And of course there was the cross-check to the neck of Ehlers that wasn't called. All of the penalties that were called were deserved IMO (with the exception of Vuic's aggressor maybe), but it's almost like the refs didn't know whether or not they wanted to just let them play. It's the inconsistency that pisses people off. A few people calling us divers on the french board as well. The Eastlink commentators actually called out Gatineau for diving a few times. I wouldn't be surprised if both teams were doing it on occasion.

I think Mooseheads should send a bill to the Olympic for Vuic's Jersey. He likely was just falling on Sheppard because he lost his balance from the rip that was made.

Sounded like John Moore was calling Reway, Ribeye lol. I know it is pronounced different than it looks.
Anyways, if u do look at the Vuic fight you see Vuic standing there and Sheppard pushing him to start the fight, so I don't think Vuic was sent out there to "get" anyone. I do think Ciampini is playing with a little edge. He has been giving the little shots and slashes after the whistle. Maybe he did mean to attack Erne on purpose. lol. I don't think Ciampini should be on the first line. Meier excites me, I think he will be a force soon enough. He is turning into what I would like C. Moynihan to turn into.

I am excited about watching him develop. That may sound bad as well. lol.
