Interesting video...
I could see him going to Phoenix or Washington.

I think he ends up mid first round somewhere. I don't think Phoenix takes him though. They are one of the teams that doesn't draft Russians and haven't drafted a Russian since 2008 and I don't think they change that now.

Barbashev will probably be hurt by the KHL factor. It hurts some worse than others but knocks all Russians down from a few picks to a full round.

I think he'll go in the 12-16 range.

I don't think the Khl thing will impact Barbashev...he has shown beyond a doubt he wants to play in the NHL.

When push comes to shove and they can make 3 mil/year playing at home or 1 mil playing NHL, the decision is easy. As long as the KHL keeps throwing around the money, it will be a big threat to the NHL for Russians...and even a few non-Russians.

Then why did two first round drafted Russians play games in the NHL last year? Including one that left the KHL for the NHL.

The decision isn't easy ... but it is a clearly viable option for Russian and European players ... and North American guys having a hard time catching on in the NHL. I think many Euro players would rather play KHL than AHL and make more money early on in their careers.

Radulov played a few years in Nashville then left when they offered 5-6 mil/year and he would have made 800 or 900k NHL...by then he was an established NHL player coming off a 58 point season. If the KHL isn't a huge threat why are there so few Russians in the NHL? It's not because their players are not good enough.

Watching Wildcats in the NHL draft is boring. Arizona drafts all your D, and St. Louis drafts all your forwards.

Barbashev to St.Louis at # 33.
Johnny MacLeod to TB at #57...wonder if they can use the FBJ connection to try and get him here next year? His plan was to play NCAA.
Gendron could go anywhere from #45 to 100, wild card player with great skating, size but very raw.
