The CSR list came out today theqmjhl.ca/uploads/assets/QMJHL_FR_SITE/Repechage/liste_finale_CSR_7_mai_2014.pdfWith the Mooseheads picking early in the 2nd round you'd think they will be looking at local kid Brett Crossley who's rated 26. But it's anyones guess at this point. It's always fun to run down the list and see which players stand out on paper. 41. Oliver Hout 6'4.5 250lbs! just turned 16 6 weeks ago. That's insane lol 49. Justin Doucet 6'4.5 220lbs. Another monster. Should be interesting to see which aces, if any, Cam has up his sleeve. Very strange there's so few Americans rated in a year they start enforcing teams to take 2 as well.

I'm told the moose are looking at goalie for their first pick. Who told you that? It's not a big secert that the moose need to go young there. Is some friend say they will go after a goalie or someone close to the team?

Unless one of these goalies rated in the late 2nd or later are underrated, we will take the best player available with our 1st pick. Doesn't seem like there's any high end goalies available other than Fitzpatrick, and unless we acquire a top 5 pick, we surely aren't getting him.
From all accounts this Crossley kid is somewhat underrated in the draft because he played at Shattuck. Playing there, being a local kid and Brad Crossley's son (95% sure he is), it seems like a natural fit. I've heard a few people say he should be rated in the mid 1st round. Cam has shown in the last couple of drafts he doesn't take a kid just because he's local, so we'll see what happens.
I wonder if Cam has a line on an American goalie that isn't rated for the draft? It would be ideal to be able to find a diamond in the rough in the later rounds.

I hate to say this, but I love the Wildcats' idea of drafting a ton of Americans in the later rounds, and establishing their market as a good place for Americans to report. Aside from J.F Jacques last year, the odds of people from the 10th round on making the team at any time are slim to nil. I would almost copy Moncton and draft a bunch of Americans. This of course is if we did a thorough job at scouting them. Otherwise it's a waste.
More than likely we'll establish our 3 20 year olds before the draft, and attempt to trade the rest. I don't know if Lussier would be a 20yo in this league, but then again, I didn't think Beauchemin would be last year, and he had a much better season than I ever would've imagined. Hopefully we find the right fit for Lussier if he wants to continue his career in the Q. Ciampini would be the guy that would have value. I see us keeping Ryan, Gadoury and Hardie. If for some reason Weegar returns, we trade Hardie laster. With the value other 20yos have had, I'm hoping Ciampini can land us a 1st round pick. It could be wishful thinking, but I don't think it's that far-fetched. If not then suppliment the offer with a later pick. It seems like a strong draft this year, and it would be beneficial to get a 1st rounder somehow.
I'm not going to stress out over what Cam does this year, but I do believe it's his toughest season to date, and I can't wait to see what direction he takes.

Very strange there's so few Americans rated in a year they start enforcing teams to take 2 as well. I don't think they rated the Americans with the Canadian players unless I missed something. I know at the bottom there was always a part that had players added by the teams and Americans and so I think they just add all the Americans there. Like Krys would be a top pick but he's only ranked with the rest of the Americans at the bottom. The most interesting part is seeing what players the teams added for the draft since that means that there is some interest there. Moncton took 4 players of those that were added by the teams and were not in the rankings by the CSR last year and there were a bunch of others that were also taken from that section

Very strange there's so few Americans rated in a year they start enforcing teams to take 2 as well. The Moose have the first pick in the second round. Which is actually going to be pick number 21. There is actually 20 picks in the first round of this draft and 19 in the 2nd. So when you look at possible players that the Moose can and will look at for the pick names that pop out to me are. Brett Crossley C. 6' 173lbs NS Jacob Neveu D. 6'1.5 194lbs Que Xavier Vinetti D. 6'1.5 185lbs Que Barrett Dachyshyn D. 6'2.5 181lbs NS Sam Harvey G. 5'11 185lbs Que The next 2 guys are the next nearest goalies and are rated for the 3rd round but are both from Nova Scotia. Mark Grametbauer G. 6' 163lbs NS Reilly Pickard G. 5'11 173lbs NS I'm just taking a guess but I think we go with Croslley too. I think we to much help at centre to pass him up. It looks like we might be able to steal a good goalie in the 3rd round anyways. Take one there.

Is Barrett Dachyshyn any relation to Dean who played for the NS Oilers back in the day? If Crossley is a solid pick I am all for taking him, but please don't take him because of the connection. Daniel Smith says hi.....I know there is probably a big difference there. Edit..Brett Crossley stats. www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=195781

I searched "Shattuck" to see if there were any other players coming out of there this year. Interestingly enough, Crossley's teammate, a goalie, is listed. Drew Speckman 5'10 175 www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=226447Pretty small but may still be growing at 15 years old. Wonder if he's highly touted?

One of the two will go by the draft I would think....if anyone offers a first for either 1, you have to jump at that. If they could both get 1st's ( I stringly doubt it), I would be all for trading both and going with Gadoury, Hardie and Lussier

With all the 20s teams need to move sweeten the pot maybe required. I dont see the Moose moving the high 2nd for a goalie, that will be available at that point, unless someone slips. A 20 could be used with the 2nd to move up. So many possibilities that its pointless to cover them all with a GM like Russell. FA have to pass through some leagues before they can be signed so that leaves a lot of strategy left until later.

You had a good post going there until you mentioned a 1st for Ciampini. . 40 point 20 year olds are a dime a dozen.......I'm guessing a 4th gets him......if you get a 3rd it's a good deal. I can't see Halifax's favorite whipping boy getting more than that. Most of you guys would be willing to give him away. lol

I'm told the moose are looking at goalie for their first pick. Just looking up some players and noticed Cadorette was picked #20 2nd round by BC in 2011. Not sure where he was ranked that year. Hopefully we can nail someone like him in one of our earlier picks. Aside from Fitzpatrick, has anyone heard if this years group of goalies are average or good. If the class isn't that great then maybe we take a chance on one with a later pick or maybe a FA. Edit. Sam Harvey is ranked 2nd round....stats www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=251478
