Thought I'd start a thread to discuss what next years team may look like, and do an overview of the assets the Mooseheads currently have.
On the back of this article: thechronicleherald.ca/mooseheads/1207243-don-t-expect-any-shockers-from-mooseheads
If Cam Russel doesn't expect to make any big moves this draft, the best place to look is what we have for next season. (or maybe he does plan on making moves and he's just holding his cards close to his chest.)
Forwards-
20-Phillipe Gadoury 19- Ryan Falkenham 19- Danny Moynihan 19- Sam Leblanc 19- Brandon Vuic 18- Nikolaj Ehlers 18- Temo Meier 18- Andrew Shewfelt 18- Vincent Watt 17- Maxime Fortier 17- Connor Moynihan
Defense-
20- Austyn Hardie 20- Jessie Lussier 19- Matt Murphy 18- Jacob Jaques
Goaltenders-
19- Zach Fucale
We have the pieces to put together a decent line-up this season. But beyond Gadoury and Ehlers, scoring will be hard to come by, and depending on how rookie camp goes, we may need to use Hardie and Lussier both as 20's. Beyond Matt Murphy and the overagers, we don't really have proven top-4 D to step in and play.
Prospects-
Forwards, obviously the most notable prospect is ('97)Max Fortier, beyond him there are a couple interesting ones. ('97)Jordan King of the NMMHL's Western kings finished second in league scoring, with the most assists. Also quite a few young guys on Defense that could make camp interesting.
Anyway, this is mostly just a jumping off point for the ever-fun line-up predictions and discussion of which direction the team should go.

We have a lot of rookies coming in on D. Ford, Taillefer, Fitzgerald and Worthen could all make the team this year.
Should be interesting to see if forwards like Jordan King or Mark Vokey can come in and make an impact.

Yea, It's really hard to have a good picture in a year like this before the draft, but the other one I'm interested in is Josh Fitzgerald from the Central Ice Caps. He was a mid-season signing, a '96 born defenseman from Newfoundland, I believe. Odd to see an un-drafted player get scooped up in the middle of a year, I'm hopeful cam found another gem. One thing positive about this year is a bunch of the drafted kids who didn't make the team out of camp went back to midget and had monster seasons. Cause for optimism.

There's still a remote chance Weegar comes back too. I personally don't see it happening, but better players than him have been returned to the CHL as 20 year olds, so you never know.

Yea, I left him out because of how unlikely his return is, especially seeing how high Dale Talon is on him, but Weegar is almost as huge as Drouin for this team.

I can't remember exactly. But I think he wasn't guaranteed a spot on the roster, and left when his 48 hour window was up. Had he stayed any longer, he'd lose his NCAA eligibliity.

Nice job, But Darveau won\t be back sounded like on the last post-game show and Gaudoury already has one spot.

I think he was younger then Fitzgerald was when he won. The Moose seem to have almost too many prospects on D. I guess that's a good problem to have. Looks like we could have 3 rookies starting on D. If came wants to ice a competitive team maybe we would keep Lussier.

Meier - Gadoury - Ehlers Ryan - Fortier - Falkenham C. Moynihan - D. Moynihan - Shewfelt Watt - Leblanc - Vuic Vokey Murphy - Hardie Lovell - Jacques Fitzgerald - Ford Taillefer Fucale Brais Ok Could be a scary first line, solid second and good bottom 6. Maybe a few spots in the dee that could be upgraded. But maybe Murphy take the torch passed from Konrad to Max. Fucale who feels he let the team down with another chance. When you set it up like that Cory.......might be another good year.

Could potentially win the Maritimes Division for the third year in a row depending on some variables (if Svechnikov reports, who replaces Bureau, what Sonier does at the draft etc.).
