Acknowledged. But I would be looking. We have been able to pick up some serviceable 20 D men in the past Beaudry and Oligny for a 3rd and Payette for a 5th. You had to bring that Oligny guy up didn't you ! It was directed your way

I am not sure Legare delivers a 20 year old defenceman that you would want to keep . You move Legare for 1 pick and trade another pick for a D. Doesn't have to be a 1 for 1 swap.

Let me start by saying this: When I talk about the 20's next season, Darcy and Hache are never included. Until they ARE back, they're not coming back. You can't plan around unknowns like that. So take those away and who are the 20's exactly? Farrell and Legare are the best 2. To me they're the same player who brings similar games. For a 20 you need to look at more then goal production, I want consistancy and leadership...and honestly I only want 1 of those 2 on my team. Ok that brings me to another question. Why does everyone have Darcy won't be back? He's not signed or drafted, so where is he going? Hache is signed so I understand that but just don't get the Darcy not going to be back talk. Where will he be next year if not with CB? Keep in mind he's an American who left NCAA so his natural progression would be to pro hockey after tearing up junior. I have zero indication one way or another on whether he's coming back or not but if no NHL team wants him now there's almost less reason for him to come back at 20 and more reason to play professionally. I think if he's back in junior it's after a deal to Quebec but time will tell.

I only ask because this talk of being on the radar and everything is horse shit really. He was already on the radar and was past over 2 drafts and not signed as a free agent from either year. Now the progression statement doesn't really even hold any weight if the player isn't already NHL property. I think he is a great hockey player and I'm surprised he's not owned by some NHL team but because he maybe should doesn't mean he is or will. Look at Duffy he lite up this league and did get a look after his 20 season but now he's going AUS next year. I think everyone here assumes something when there way to many unknowns. And as to he left NCAA part, has anyone heard why? It's hard to say with out being personal and breaking rules I guess. But was it not for him? Playing time? Not a great student? Caught parting like Sill did years ago? If it's any of those he might have came here to get a better look plus a chance for an education package. So as for what's left for him to play for here another year on education and to maybe get to play AUS. The AUS part might be a bit of a stretch but who knows. I just think before you say he won't be back maybe wait till after the NHL draft. Then when you have a better hind sight on the matter.

Just throwing this out there but what about Hardie from the Mooseheads to fill this roll? He will be a leader and a great shut down guy. Then you can let Leveille run the top PP and Lalonde and Bell run the 2nd unit. He might how ever cost you 2 of your 2nd rounders or your last first rounder but I think he be a great fit for you.

Then when you have a better hind sight on the matter. #1 since its mid May and theres been zero reporting on his plans a maybe is the best we have right now. #2 yes he was passed over but he also did not have a dominant offensive season at this high of a level at 17 or 18. We see kids picked at 19 all the time after good years. If passed over now and the only incentive to come back is to get a 2nd year of CIS paid for why not play pro close to home for the same money as we would pay. Time will tell but because he is American the maybes should lean him towards not being back here until he is back here amd that is how we should plan...not the other way around like say Farrell or Legare whose best option is playing here at 20.

The American part is thrown out the door once he came up here. Yes he had a great year, yes he put up numbers but he doesn't have a home at the next level yet so he's an eagle until he not. The money made down in the ECHL isn't near as good because you have to factor in cost of living where in CB taken care of. There's more to it then just him being an American. If you said that and he started there at 17 and this was his 3rd year them yes I agree. But it was his first and he played high levels and never got taken yet. The problem is he is still an eagle and the NHL draft isn't till after the Q one so you can trade Legare until you know what up with Darcy. So you might miss out on another pick this draft (like you really need one anyways).

When I said that I was thinking your first was the 19th pick. There's talk that your moving up to 13. If it was 19 then yes that's a fair trade 13 is a bit high. As for 2 2nds your 2nd rounds are 30 and higher. So 35 and 39 for one of the best defensive Defensemen in the league. He has played on the top 2 pairings the last 3 season with the mooseheads. Last year he was top pairing with Weegar and faced the top players in the league. Hardie has also wore a letter the past 2 seasons for the moose too. He's a leader and got to see other leaders do it right. Plus he's not so much a fitter but he will drop the gloves if needed but he brings a bit of grit to his game too. Not afraid to block shots. He is worth every this type of return.
