What are the rumors out there? do you think we buy, sell, or stand pat? August trade period isn't exactly an active one. Stand pat would be a safe bet (for just about everyone).

Carlyle Lewis back in 99 I think, was a great August pick up.

Definitely was not an August trade as Abid played 13 games for Bathurst to start that season before he got traded to Halifax. He played his last game for bathurst on October 8th., and first game for Halifax on October 15th.

What are the rumors out there? do you think we buy, sell, or stand pat? I'm sure we will do a bit of both buy and sell. We almost every year get something around this time. Usually it's so small it's not worth talking about. Like last year we got Darveau, year before that was Clarke, and before that was Hardie and Critchlow. The Hradie and Critchlow were big ones but mostly it's small one that are for roll players. As for the biggest one would have to be MacKinnon one. That's when he was basically traded the league just let it happen earlier because the impact of it and how it was leaked so fast.

Carlyle Lewis back in 99 I think, was a great August pick up. I remember that well! The Mooseheads had brought someone (name escapes me) in as the 'tough guy' role in the pre-season.... First game at the Forum Lewis almost killed this wannabe in a fight, and about 48 hours later he was a Moose....

There never used to be an august trade period. It was mid october. Lewis was brought in as an overager. Trade period for 20's is always open.

I'm guessing they see how the first half of the season goes before determining what direction they go in terms of buy or sell. The Maritime Division still isn't that good, so they are still a leading contender to win it as long as they stay healthy; especially Fucale. The backup goalie spot will be interesting to see who wins the job, but you hope they don't have to play much. Whoever does win that job will likely have the inside track to replace Fucale in 2015-2016. Barring something unforeseen, Ehlers will be back. Drouin won't be back; either in the NHL, or he's traded at some point for futures to help the next rebuild. If Gadoury can continue his scoring touch he had after he arrived last season, and if the Moynihans step up offensively along with Meier, etc., tey'll be OK up front.
Murphy should take another step up on defence this season; the others find a way to get the job done. Maybe add a couple of rookies in Ford and/or Marino if he reports and stays beyond the 48 hour limit).

They are looking to be the 3 best team in this division. PEI and CB are the 2 teams that are the likely front runners. As for buyers or sellers this trade period they usually always make some small moves like I said before. This isn't usually the big time to trade. But what usually happens is players fall in depth charts to teams then they're traded for like 10 round picks or something like that. Look at Darveau last year. Sometimes what happens a player will be owned by another team but they will let this player try out for another one. If he makes the team then a pick will be sent to the other team. That's what happened with David Brine.

I know CB will be up there; Charlottetown added a lot of youth/picks that can help them this coming season, or help them get help from the outside.

Yes they had some pick and had a great draft, but they added some let vets. The likes of MacKinnon, Johnston, Cooper and Weber to solidify there Top lines and back end. Plus the Euros they are going to bring look to be big boosts too. Halifax is not a leading contender in this division unless Drouin some how comes back again. They will compete but they're a mid pack team. They have to big of a hole on defence to fill. After Murphy and Hardie it's a crap shoot. Up front they will have one solid first line and an average second but after that it starts to fall off. This team is not a top contender. At lest how it's looking to shape up. If there's a move durning training camp that helps there defence there in the middle.

Upon further reflection and research, I have overestimated the Moose roster; or at least painted a "glass half full" on some of the younger forwards who are returning, and some of the defence corp. Some of them likely won't produce or play as well as much as they are expected to. Tough to expect the rookies like Crossley, Dachyshyn, etc. to step in and produce big numbers in their first year. I don't expect Drouin back. But my thinking is/was as long as they have Fucale in goal and Ducharme behind the bench, they have a chance to scare some teams.
Charlottetown, with Mason MacDonald in goal, gives them a real chance to compete for a division title if they clean things up in their own end.

Highly unlikely you see Fucs here after end-Nov.
