Hi board. I'm a new member who used to follow the team with a microscope about 8 years ago but since have been in Alberta working the camp life and am now moved back to Cape Breton. I haven't followed the team since about 2007.
I was just wondering in a nutshell what to expect this season? I have no idea whether to expect basement dwelling, first place, or mid pack. I also have no idea who the players are anymore.
I know the team hasn't been strong in the past few seasons but are things starting to look up?
Ive heard some people around town say the team will be awful while others have mentioned contending.
A brief amount of info would be great!
Thanks!

You can expect the Eagles to finish among the top in the league and possibly top in the division. I can tell you you haven't missed much since you last followed the eagles except the teams from 2007 to 2010.
Some players to look out for are: Evgeny Svechnikov- highly touted prospect for the 2015 NHL draft Clark Bishop-drafted in 5th round by Carolina in 2014 Julien Pelletier-draft 4th round by Columbus in 2014 Maxim Lazarev-3rd overall pick by Cape Breton in the 2013 chl import draft Kyle Farrell Loik Leveille Guillaume Gauthier Jason Bell- 12th overall pick by the eagles in the 2013 Q draft Pierre-Luc Dubois- 5th overall pick by the eagles in the 2014 Q draft

Expect at least a top 8 finish. The next year or two will be our go-for-it years so you came just in time for the good stuff. Like emerz said if Darcy is back we should be around the top and if the super slim chance Hache is back this season happens, well, we might as well go for it.

I think CB takes the division but I am glad that Charlottetown is finally getting recognized as a threat been waiting a long long time for that. Good luck this season guys it'll be fun.

I certainly think games between Cape Breton and Charlottetown will be very interesting games to watch this season. There will be a lot of exciting young talent on both sides - probably the games I am looking forward to most this upcoming season!

The 08 team had the hardest drive that I have ever seen. The 16 year old Olivier Roy standing on his head also made the season worthwhile. They really gave Halifax a good run for their money that playoff. 2009 was not half bad either. Really enjoyed the overagers that year ( Haddad , Culligan , Slaney ) plus that series against the Remps. 2010 was messed up. Good enough to beat the weaker teams but could not come close against the big guns. The additions of Legace ( and price paid and his 6 goals... ) and PA Dion was very disappointing. Legault was the greatest addition though in my opinion. Guy hit like a freight train. Adam was a star but it seemed the guy needed to hit the cardio big time. Leaving out the rest of the bad.

Ive heard some people around town say the team will be awful while others have mentioned contending. Probably the same people that put down NSMMHL hockey and then head down to RHS/SA games every week and think it's the best hockey they've ever laid their eyes on

Ha^ Thanks for the info gang! What are things looking like when it comes to our goaltending? Right now we got Francois Brassard who's a pretty good 20 though we overpaid a little for him imo because our backup Fortin could hold down the starting position, but would just be able to hold it down. Brassard is there to practically be the #1. It wouldn't surprise me to see Fortin go mid season. In the minors we got Colby Muise (16) who looks like our best goalie prospect, Matthew O'Rielly (17) who looks like nothing special and we have Miguel Sullivan (19) who is pretty much a depth goalie in case Fortin or Brassard go down.

It looks like Fortin isn't coming to camp. So that leaves Brassard and Sullivan for the goalies next year.

IMO Brassard is overrated.....it`s really an average goaler and he is very bad in play-off

He probably is but they needed a starter bad and the price was reasonable. He is coming in with something to prove so there is that. I like him coming in way more then Legace last year.
Also , the number one option was Cadorette but BC wanted an arm plus a leg.
