This is a much needed move. We will be a young team that needs some protection. We don't have any scrappers on defense. For whatever reason, last Saturday during a greasy game with some cheap shots, C. Moynihan didn't go looking for anything....at all. That leaves just Vuic. In years past, Cam always had some middleweights/cruiserweights who would quickly step in, drop the mits and defend a teammate. We don't have that this year, and I don't believe Leblanc or watt would be candidates. The more I think about this, I think you might be right, Melly. Although I highly doubt it, I can't help but think this is a message management is sending to the League after the runs at Drouin last year, which the League dismissed. In other words, if the League is not going to look after our players ... we will. I think the difference is that Bent is an agitator and not an enforcer. He fights, but he fights because it's the nature of his game. He'll be the one that stirs up shit on the other team. Vuic will be the one that challenges the opposition's agitators should they mess with our young guys. Not saying Bent wouldn't step in if that situation came up. But it isn't the sole reason we got him. If I were the opposition, I really wouldn't change my game because Kelly Bent is on the other team. But hopefully Bent can get some star players off their games without being a liability.

I think some people are looking too far into this and are getting Bent out of shape!

You are right about that last point - but too often that works the wrong way against the Moose when roles are reversed. When its the Mooseheads standing up for one another or playing on the edge they generally get the worse of the leagues judgement in suspensions...the league will use Halifax as the example every time.

Gotta be pretty happy with the goaltending so far and 9th rd pick Resop. Through 3 half games he's got awesome numbers and at 17 years old it would be perfect if he can show in the first half of the season that he can take the reins from Fucale. Maybe make the Moose a little more comfortable with their options at Christmas.

Not a fan of Watt, but he actually looked half decent tonight. Thought C. Fitgerald wasn't great, J. Fitzgerald looked a little better. Worthen is cutable. Bent took a diving penalty. Hope he is not doing that too much this year because it will get quite tiresome. He did draw a penalty and did the jersey tug when he scored, I guess a little show for Saint John management. I thought Blain-Dupuis would stand out more then he did. Not too impressed by him. Saint John dressed 7 players from Ontario, maybe overdosing a little too much on the scouting. Fucale was solid. I think he will win us quite a few games this year...well until Christmas.

I thought Cavan and Josh Fitzgerald played a lot in the 2nd and 3rd. It seems like they REALLY wanted a good look at them in pressure situations.
Josh Fitzgerald is a little TOO calm with the puck sometimes. The shorthanded goal was on him completely. Just soft, sloppy plays. He was trying to be to cute when he just could have put it deep.
Cavan I still like quite a bit... I think they want to keep one of these two at least, they're both '96 borns. They can step in and play some minutes, which we need.
Conspicuous in his absence was J.S. Talifier.

Unusual year especially on D. You could potentially have 9 D and find enough minutes for all the rookies. You have only 3 D that are known to be able to handle full time minutes/games. Injuries to any of these and the burden is even greater.

Well, they need to cut a 16-year-old forward now that Nauss has apparently made the team. I can't imagine Blain-Dupuis survives the last cut. I wonder who the other cut will be? Between King and Dachysyn I presume.
