I'm interested to see if Jordan King sticks around. From what I gather he had a spot on the team last year but chose to keep his NCAA eligibility. Him trying out as an 18yo perhaps shows he's ready to step into our lineup. I think we're going to have a speedy hard-working team this year. Hopefully we can give some teams fits. I'd love to be competing every year. But it'll be relaxing to just sit back and watch hockey and not worry about where we finish this year. King is actually only 17yo

He has another year then to mull things over if he wants to.

IF you pay your own way and do not play in any exhibition games or take part in official team functions you can spend as much time as you like at training camp. But you must pay for everything (outside of that 48 hours) yourself.

The potential rule changes coming out of the NCAA may eventually have some effect on players trying out here. However, this is about a lot more than players receiving a hundred bucks a week now, or whatever it is. The NCAA position is all about protecting their talent pool. www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2014/08/14/ncaa-obannon-plaintiffs-antitrust-case-ask-judge-for-benefits-to-start-in-2016-17/14055577/"Wilken's ruling and the injunction she issued could enable major-college football and men's basketball players to receive more from schools than they currently receive — including payments of several thousand dollars a year that would be placed in trust until their eligibility expires or they graduate. Under the NCAA's current rules, athletes are limited to a scholarship basically comprising tuition, room, board, books and mandatory fees." Of course Tier I hockey will argue the ruling affects basketball and football only. Time will tell, and it will be interesting to see if this transfers to ice hockey.

The way people have been freaking out about Marino, he better turn into the best defenseman in Moosehead history! Oh Guru, seems like you have the "freak out bug" on Marino as well. Your posts on the first page of this thread are all about Marino. And I guess statsman can be added to the bug as well. When you say "people", I would have thought that would be vast majority...but in reality that is just not the case. How many is it? A dozen (overstated) LOL

I have a few questions for anyone who's gone to the inter squad games. I can't make it to them when they start at 4, I don't even get off work till 5. I don't understand why they have them so early this year. Ok enough of me, question. Some of you have given your own little scouting reports but I haven't heard anything about Crossley, Dachyshyn. How have they been so far? Also was wondering how Gaudet has looked? He is that guy that for some reason I feel will come in as an unknown and grab a spot. No real reason just one of those guys. Kind of like Leblanc last year.

Crossley obviously has a lot of tools, Decent size, good speed, can obviously handle the puck. They had him playing with Timo and Max Fortier, not two easy guys to keep up with, but he keeps up with them. He'll be fine once he adjusts to the speed of the game; he's probably a half step behind mentally when it comes to figuring out what he's going to do with the puck, which is natural I'd say.
Dachyshyn would never jump out at you as a 16 year old, he's build like a tank. He's got good hands in close, he's a guy who I can see being parked in front of the net and can bang in garbage all year, if he makes the team.

Do u think Dachyshyn could turn into a Fournier type of guy?

Crossley is going to be good. I didn't notice him a ton, but when you do watch him you can tell he has natural instincts most 16yr olds don't have.
As for Dachyshyn, he kinda like a Connor Moynhian last year, only much more refined. Big kid, and not just tall either. Thick for a 16yr old who's 6'3". He's going to have to play a simple game to be successful, he's not flashy, but he knows his strengths I think.

But ya, similar types, big bodies who go to the net, good hands.

I know it's a small sample size but do you think Dachyshyn will make it this year or be given another year in midget to build confidence? Something like the moose did with Fortier last year. I think Crossley is a lock but I have a feeling Dachyshyn might go back to the Mac's and maybe get a call up around Christmas time.
