They did 3 on 3 for a period and then 4 on 4 for a period. With veterans sprinkled in and the new format, it made for more enjoyable hockey than the previous 5 on 5 all rookie scrimmages which felt like below midget AAA calibre due to unfamiliarity and such. Lalonde looked like a man among boys as he should being a 20 year old. Barbashev and Tkachev were present but did not play. Maybe they'll play in the evening session. Jacob scored a nice goal on Rioux and hit the post on another very nice chance. Klebanskyj played solid and Jeremy Doucet impressed me with his strong defensive plays. Nothing fancy but stick was always in good position and he intercepted a lot of passes. Here's the rosters for the game I saw. I only saw the 10:20 game. P.S To those who watched and are going to comment. Avoid being too critical on guys. Talk about the guys who impressed you instead of saying stuff like "BizNasty2.1 sucked. He has no chance of making the team". I can guarantee you a lot of these parents are reading your comments so let them enjoy their son's few weeks of fame.

My point is more geared towards the rookies than the Vets. Biznasty is a vet. I heard someone at the rink say that Aiden Critchlow sucked but his parents could have been sitting right behind him for all he knows. Wait until they at least make the team to say something like that.

A lot of the FA's are from lower levels like Midget Espoir or prep schools...some will look out of place against this level of competition and others will fit in. To get back on topic, yeah, at this point it's best to comment on the good performances and not the bad for FA's. If a veteran or high draft pick looks bad then it's acceptable.

Watched the 5:00 game. LaLonde, Askew and Maltesta stood out. Askew is big and talented, the knock on him is he runs hot and cold and can disappear for long stretches. The Cats obviously are hoping Rumble can push the right buttons and get him competing every night.

Anybody go to the games this morning? If love to read your guys insight. I couldn't make it this morning. I watched the 6-2 game. US kids looking good, Robbie Roche (1G) paired with Sweeney. Garland and AJ Johnson each scored goals. Garland was his wizard self skating with the puck. On the losing end, Cam Askew had a nice goal. The highlight was Corson's hit on Garland, might cause Conor to miss tonight's game...

According to today's T&T:
- Pugsley hasn't reported yet due to family illness and his future with the team is uncertain
- Scherban has left camp due to an injury
- McInnis, Dorsey, RJ Murphy and Borges all scheduled to be here for the second week of camp.

Nothing says the 48 hours has to be at start of camp - probably better for an NCAA guy to come for week 2 and see how he compares to a reduced roster of players who are mostly major junior calibre - first week is watered down with guys destined for midget and junior A.

So those guys must be guaranteed a spot foregoing the 48 hour thing... We've had this discussion before and the 48 hour thing is not an issue. The player can come here and stay on the team's dime for 48 hrs ... but if he stays at his own cost then the 48 hrs doesn't matter. The real kicker is if and when he decides to play in a league sanctioned game (exhibition or regular season) ... which does not include intra-squad scrimmages ... as that will squash his NCAA eligibility for at least a year.
