Hodge had a pretty detailed article this morning on some of the "NCAA" kids in camp... I guess McInnis and Dorsey are guaranteed a spot if they want it...though I heard Dorsey left town... Greenberg Johnson and Mann are in a different situation, where the team can't guarantee them a spot and they don't want to play exhibition games and lose their NCAA. I have a feeling Mann may be offered a spot if one( or both) of McInnis and Dorsey don't stay. Thivierge seems like an interesting option also. I get the feeling they prefer Tesink in Jr.A or MAAA for another year. Dominie Duquette and Hedges are the other d-men in camp... I've liked Dominie from the couple viewings that I've had. Nothing flashy, but pretty cool and composed out there and will make the safe play. I'd be ok with him as the 7th defenceman this year if that's what it comes down to.

Well that was extremely anticlimactic.

Well that was extremely anticlimactic. They were probably not impressed enough to guarantee a top 6 spot...

Dorsey doesn't want to lose his chance in the NCAA for only 2 seasons in the Q.
Average top 6: Sweeney Malatesta Holwell Johnston Klebanskyj Mann ? / L.McInnis ? 20 years old ?

Does Dorsey have an NCAA commitment yet? He is 18 ... if a D1 school hasn't signed him yet, his chances are probably not that great ... Rumour had it he wanted to be here last year, but the team was unwilling to commit to him. From what I have seen in past years, in Moncton and around the league, there are probably 50 kids who leave camp to protect their NCAA eligibility for every one that eventually ends up playing D1.

I'm thinking they are going to use that 20 year old spot on a defenceman given that Dorsey is gone. Other opinions?

They could also wait till midseason to see how younger look at midseason. Billy, is Tesink one of the "younger" your referring to? Moreso Sweeney Johnston Holwell Malatesta and Klebanskyj. Tesink would battle other guys for the #6-7 slots, which would be a waste to fill with a 20... Edit:In the big picture, if they plan on contending, they'll need a high end 20 up front or on defense plus possibly other pieces. They could maybe take on a guy like Cortese if the price was cheap or a FA from OHL/WHL in the short term. Grandmaison would have been a decent option also...

The only problem with waiting is that usually the price goes up for veteran D-man ,and top forwards as you get close to trade deadline, and the teams that decide not to go all in, unload. If Moncton has their eyes on a D-man they should trade soon (like they did with Narbonne), and let him gel with the Team. Does anyone know of any D-man that might fit the bill ? (Murphy from Halifax maybe) doesn't have to be a 20 year old as long as he is the right fit for the Team and can log lots of minutes , quarterback the pwr play (having a physical presence would be a bonus but would cost a lot more) ? Also looking at the roster size for forwards Moncton also could use a top 6 forward and a physical forward to play on the checking line that can also drop the gloves when need be. Does Moncton have the assets do do this? they will have to give up some younger players and high picks. I would focus on the D-man then see how the rest of the Team is at the trade deadline and then make a minor move if need be. Just my 2 cents
