Why don't the kids just register for CEGEP anyway, and then if they make the team they can cancel. What is CEGEP going to do ... sue them ? Is CEGEP going to withhold their education if they back out ? That wouldn't go very far when the next election comes along.

I've crapped on people in the past for bringing up players' social media profiles but interesting to see that Liam Murphy recently removed Avon Old Farms '16 and UCONN recruit from his Twitter profile.

I have a feeling we'll see Liam Murphy commit to the Wildcats and get into one of the upcoming exhibition games.

Pretty sure they have to follow some type of education, so the point isn't to be registered or not, it's where the player will study until christmas.

Quite a few rumours floating around that Murphy will be sticking with the Cats. How has he looked in the scrimmages? There's certainly a lot of forwards that are on the proverbial bubble.

But if they make the team they have to enroll in some sort of education program anyway ... just like any other Quebec kid that comes here. Mathieu Olivier will be CEGEP age this year but he won't be going anywhere ... he'll study here. Perhaps it is a money thing ... shouldn't be ... education is covered by the Province.

The Wildcats have signed Liam Murphy, I can confirm this.

The Wildcats have signed Liam Murphy, I can confirm this. So these seem to be the most likely 14 forwards in my mind then (lines probably aren't right): Olivier - Barbashev - Tkachev Garland - Askew - Lalonde Smith - Johnson - Bower Seeger - Jacob - Murphy/Leger/Cormier I think D is a much bigger toss up for the final two or three spots depending on if they keep 7 or 8 Sweeney - Johnston Howell - Malatesta Klebanksyj - X I'm not even sure who is a front runner for the spots assuming no Dorsey or McInnis and no 20 year old trade is made. Dubeau Rioux/Dupre I think that's a pretty solid lineup.

Somebody please explain the helmet rule for fights??? Is it new again this year? These two were tangled up throwing and refs give GAME MISCONDUCT for helmet violation. They certainly didn't take their own helmets off that is a guarantee but if it comes off from punches isn't it a 10min misconduct? Maybe refs need a longer training camp
Both Cormier and the Islander looked surprised

Anyone have any knowledge on how good the four Americans arriving next week are?

Anyone have any knowledge on how good the four Americans arriving next week are? Brandon Borges and RJ Murphy have decided not to come. Both coming off injuries and have not been cleared for contact. Luke McInnis and Jamie Dorsey should be shoe-ins to make the roster if they decide to sign.

Also said the cats are still unsure about RJ Murphy because of his injury.

My observations from tonight's game.
I really liked Lane Cormier in the limited viewing I had of him. He seemed strong on the puck and was very physical. I think he brings something the cats don't really have on the roster now.
Corson was a really nice surprise as well, I can't believe that he was not ranked by the Q scouting bureau, great find by Shannon and co. He was a real shit disturber, physical, had good puck skills, vision and made some really nice passes. I think he should have had the assist on the first goal because I thought he was the one who made the pass to Curtis. The only down side was that the bigger D like Henley really started to push him around a bit in the third period. I really liked what I saw but I think he could use another year in Midget just to get a bit bigger although I have heard that they may have signed him.
I was kind of down on the Askew trade when the cats made it but wow, he has some hands. From what I saw tonight he kind of reminded me of Bruce Graham a bit; big, extremely talented, seems to operate at his own speed (not necessarily a bad thing, can calm the pace down) and not really physical at all for his size. He didn't seem to hit anyone tonight but he did stand up for his teammates once or twice although I don't think he should have had to do it, I thought someone else would have stepped in. Overall, I was extremely impressed with him. I think he should probably work on his face offs though, from what I remember he didn't seem to win that many against this lower level of talent.
Malatesta: I thought he looked shaky at the start of the game but he really started to come into his own a bit later. You can tell the kid has a lot of skill. He's not the biggest or the most defensively sound but he looked good on the PP and made some nice hits. He was definitely the best d man for the cats.
I actually liked what cloutier did in the first period. He's not big but he seemed to want it. It must be hard for most of the defencemen when they barely saw the ice in the second period with all the poweplays and how they went with 4 forwards for a bunch of it.
Some others I thought flashed:
Dominie had some good moments, Same with Izzo. I found both of these guys had their moments.
Olivier looked strong on the puck, Jacob was good too and obviously Leger scored three goals.
