Just found out I can't make the game tonight. Any updates would be appreciated, line combinations, new players. Would the game be on the radio?

PS What did Dumont know that the rest of the country didn't know when he was able to snag Svechnikov at 63? Did Lazarev offer inside info on this pick?

He had no intentions of playing in the CHL, if we didn't have Lazarev I doubt he'd be over here playing for us. Svechnikov was electric tonight though, hes big, imposing, not afraid to take hits or make big hits and his skill set is massive. Gonna be fun this year.

Pretty entertaining game last night, Eagles should have put it away early with the 5 on 3s they had but did not capitalize on. Svechnikov was by far the best player on the ice, big, strong, smart, he is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year. Also very impressed with Dubois and Boucher, also Mason Gray, fo a guy who mised training camp, he kept his game simpl, pretty good skater. On the negative side, Json Bell has not learned anything about defensive hockey, caused two goal last night. Loads of raw talent, but needs a ton of work.Someoe had metioned earler that he should be in the top four on Dthis year, from what Iam seeing if he does not pick up his game, young Beaudoin i going to pass him on the depth chart.Lavarev missing with an ilness, was not at the Meet and Greet the other night either. On side note, Ihear that Duncan MacIntyre has rec eived an invite from his old coach, Patrick Roy, to attend training camp in Colorado, good luck to him.On the Halifax side,Vuic and Fortier impressed. On te negative side, Kelly Bent sure takes some stupid penalties.

If he had declared interest in coming he would have went top 5 to a big market. In the last 12 months he seen KHL be a longshoreman despite dominating his own age group. We had an open spot and swung for the fences. The odd time it works out like this and you get a great player. Hitting this home run is why we should be all in the next 2 seasons. But don't think it was planned this way and we pulled a fast one....we just got really lucky.

Going to be fun to watch him and Ehlers. Bent front Dom will probably teach him to control his penalties he did to Frk and his stupid penalty taking improved.

I thought the game was very good, very entertaining with good intensity. The first period was especially entertaining.
Overall, I like where the Eagles are. The Eagles look to have speed, skill and compete through the lineup. Our forecheck looked good. Obviously, The Mooseheads were missing their top two forwards which made that easier but, nonetheless, we looked to have a team that can play aggressively.
Looking at some players specifically it is hard not to start with Svechnikov. The thing with him is that there is not one skill that jumps out, there are several. His hands and ability to shoot are obvious but his vision is incredible. Then you add to that a compete level that is impressive and you get a hockey player that we can be excited about. I certainly did not expect to see him blocking shots, for example.
Pierre Luc Dubois is a player that I think has a lot of upside. he can carry the puck and seems to have a nose for the net while also having a very good compete level. I was impressed how well he played in the corners/ along the boards for a 16 year old. I don't necessary he is going to be a huge producer in the next few months but he has definite potential to be a front line player within the next few years.
Dillion Boucher is a player who adds a physical dimension to the team up front as a young player that is welcomed. I think he has enough skill to chip in offensively. Of the returnees, Brunelle continues to look like the most improved. He just looks so much faster.
On defense, the Eagles have good overall size, toughness, speed and skill. We will, however, pay a price at times for our youth. Jason Bell is a talented player who is best example of how youth has a price. His decision making is not where it needs to be yet but his career is just beginning. One of Dumont's challenges will be to determine how the best way to handle the defense and when and with whom each of our young but talented defensemen will play.
Anyway, the game itself was fun and the rink had a good atmosphere. It is certainly easy to be excited for this season.

You guys have the picks to add a soils 19yo defensemen that I think will sure up the only hole you might have.
