Here is more wacky CBA stuff with respect to Entry Level contracts. Anthony Duclair (NYR 3rd rounder `13) is entering his 19 year old season, so he either needs to play in the NHL or the Q. However, because of when he signed his ELC, his contract does NOT 'slide' for a year if he is sent back to junior. Ryan Pulock (NYI 1st rounder from `13) is entering his 20 year old season, so he is eligible to play in the AHL. However, because of when he signed his ELC, his contract DOES 'slide', as long as he does not play in the NHL for more than 9 games. Isn't that Duclair situation similar to what Drouin would face if he was sent back ?

Isn't that Duclair situation similar to what Drouin would face if he was sent back ? No. Drouin signed his contract on July 6, 2013, and he was considered to be an 18 year old at the time of signing. So that means his contract can 'slide' for 2 seasons. Those 2 seasons are 2013-14, and 2014-15. Duclair signed his contract on January 6, 2014. Since the NHL recognizes the age you are on Sep 15 of the year you sign the contract, Duclair was considered to be a 19 year old at the time of signing (even though he didn't turn 19 until 7 months after he signed), and his contract could only slide for 1 year. That one year was the remainder of the 2013-14 season.
