Cameron Darcy is back with Cape Breton. Which means they have an overager problem with Darcy, Farrell, Legare and Brassard. Would grabbing Legare for relatively cheap be an option for the Moose? Do we care enough about improving this year, even if it's for cheap? At first I thought that giving the younger kids more ice time was only a good thing. But we may need Lussier to chew up minutes just so that our younger D don't get exhausted. I can't see us going after Legare, but I don't think there's a 0% chance of it. If Patenaude was still here ( and thank God he isn't!!!!) I could see him trading for Legare in a heartbeat.... and probably overpaying. No real point for Cam to waste a pick on a stopgap at F for this year and then having to dump Lussier and force our young D minutes they can't handle on an extended basis as of right now.

I think Ducharme would flip his shit if Russel took away one of his veteran D for a forward. As much as Legare would be an upgrade, we need the body on defense.

If a 20 came as a temp fix, could be traded again later, with the end result part of a future deal at Xmas I could see it but very low percentage.

He's 20 and has played 60 games in the CHL and he's possesses zero game changing skill. He's a dime a dozen dman, the fact he's 20 makes him that much less valuable since he's taking up an impact spot. Unless Cam wants to finish bottom 3 in the league, he should bring in a better 20 year old, even if it's a forward.

You dont need impact 20 yr old on a non contending team.

Which is about 50 more than 4 of the other guys in the lineup. I use the term Veteran because he's a 20. He's played 60 games in the chl, yes (which is about 50 more than 5 other D on this roster), but he also played hockey before that. Did you consider Weegar a vet or a sophomore last year? I guess it just depends on your definition. Anyway, my point was meant to be; Dom said he wants him back in the line up so he can move guys down to where they're supposed to be playing. I do agree that Lussier is a marginal 20 (although he did win 2 of the biggest games of last season for us.) He certainly doesn't stand out as a special talent. Still, I feel like if you're going to cut Lussier loose, you need to replace him on the Blue Line.
