Not saying we would have won but Sullivan cost us OT. Sorry to be harsh but he is not a Q caliber goalie ...some Islanders fans may disagree with me, but I personally do not feel that MacCallum is neither. When these two teamshave their full lineups, I expect some very good battles between these two teams.

I agree with Score Macallum fights the puck On every shot. Also saying your missing MacIntyre,Brassard and Bishop that hurts but we're missing 4 top guns. It is gonna be an exciting battle this year and good luck guys both fan bases deserve this.

I am a Eagle threw and through but both backup stink, and yes when we both have full squads it's going to be a great rivalry

Forgot to mention in my previous blog,Sprong is an elite player in this league, he is dangerous every time he is on the ice.On the Eagles side, Farrell and Pelletier looked very strong.

I found Bell a very solid young D man for you guys. Farrell had a strong game as well I found the game got some excitement when Eagles started coming back some end to end action Sprong had a could of solid chance him self coming across the line.
Hoping both teams make some adjustments for the game tonight and come out flying,

Not saying we would have won but Sullivan cost us OT. Sorry to be harsh but he is not a Q caliber goalie A little harsh I think . Let's give him a little time before we make this kinda statement .He is our #2 , playing as a #1 to start the Season , not to mention some Opening Night Jitters . Dumont made the decision to put Muise back in Midget deciding to go with the 2 Vets . * EF209 will probably say that it is because he is a Caper but that is not the case .

Outcome aside ........wasn't it great to just be at Opening Night with a Big Crowd and a Buzz in the Rink ? Lots of line juggling will happen in the near future but I think we have a firm foundation going forward . Would be thrilled if 3000 or so of those fans come back again tonight .

I think the bashing of Sullivan is unwarranted. I understand he is not a #1 in the this league but he was hung out to dry on multiple occasions last night and made some great desperation saves.
The first 2 goals were hardly his fault. Sprong left wide open on the left circle was a recipe for disaster and then Kielly's first goal was caused by some mis-communication between Bell and Levielle and it allowed Keilly to walk in all alone.
Then in overtime we conveniently let Sprong and Goulet I believe walk in on a 2 on 0, luckily Sprong missed the net. The point I'm trying to make is that other than Deschamps and Nosella we have a very active defence that likes to jump into the play and that causes a lot of odd man rushes and a lot of chances against.

Ido not feel that Sullivans play deserves any criticism. Thought he actually played quite well, made some big saves to keep the game close. He did not have much of a chance on most of the goals. The game winner was caused by the defence, first Lalonde got caught and secondly Bell played the ensuing 2 on 1 very poorly. Lalonde did get back in the play but none the less Bell played the situation poorly. I like the offensive side of Bell but his defensive play is in need of much work.

I will say Sprong has similarities to a claude giroux. Everytime he has the puck he is dangerous. I think we will be seeing alot of competitive hockey with these two teams all year

kinda sucks that two of the CB/Charlottetown games were early on when they're both missing some of their key players to NHL camps.

No mention of Sprong from Hal. Disappointed man.
I would say a lot of last nights poor showing ( until 3rd) had to do with the opening night jitters , big crowd , and the changed forward lines. Have to find the chemistry again ( and they slowly did as the game progressed ) . Appeared that linemates were either not in sync or there would be one guy trying to do too much. That is expected on the home opener but that is what I noticed.
Not blaming this one on the goalie at all. Could Sullivan have been better? Yes. However , he did make some good saves off of what I figured would be sure goals and PEI was playing their backup as well.
Another big game by Farrel might I add. Full speed ahead for him.

Disappointing that we lost but what a fun night at the rink it was.
First thing I will say is the crowd number was proof that there are still a ton of people in this community willing to support this team when it's heading in the right direction. No 4300 won't return tonight but the big number indicates what could be in store after Christmas if things start to go well over these first few months.
In terms of the game itself, anyone who came out to see the main attractions got their moneys worth and more.
Daniel Sprong owned the rink last night. Absolutely dominant in many areas and a surprise to me he only had 2 points. I thought he was excellent.
Also excellent for PEI was Kielly(what a tip on that point shot!) and Goulet.
Goaltending for both teams was very poor. I'm sure there's some early season jitters with 2 guys who know their destined to ride the pine between 2 solid #1's all year but they both didn't do themselves any favors with that showing.
Did anyone else notice the ricochet that Sullivan handled when it was 4-4 that looked to go up into the net and come right back out? I had a perfect angle on it and those around me seemed to think it went in too but there was no review.
I thought Bell was excellent last night. His end to end rush to set up Farrell was a thing of beauty and he was in perfect position to tap in that 4th goal. If he can ever get it together in his own end he'll be playing pro hockey in the future. But for a 17yr old there's a ton of promise there.
Speaking of Farrell: He appears to be on a mission to cement his place on this team no matter who returns here. He's playing a very smart game, winning a lot of face offs, and putting up a lot of points. All things you absolutely need on a contending team from a 20yr old top center. Very impressed with him.
I know Deschamps isn't going to win any scoring titles but after watching him play I can't understand why any team would trade him. 18. Big body. Good first pass. Heavy shot. Willing to play the body. Perfect compliment to Bell and Leveille. I think he's going to work out very nicely here.
Pelletier could have easily had 2 or 3 goals. Think I say that every time I see him. His goal was an absolute laser to the top shelf. Great game for his 1st back from NHL camp.
Svechnikov has all the skill in the world but can't let the other team get to him as much. His skill however is off the charts and you can see our power play having some serious potential once he gets some chemistry with the other forwards. His setup to Lazarev was awesome and he almost had 1 or 2 other great setups where Lazarev just missed 1 timers. They were and should continue to be very fun to watch.
Our bottom pairing Dman had a rough night. Nosella in particular struggled. At 19 he has to get it together to stay here long term.
All things considered I think these 2 are going to have some absolute barn burners over these next 2 seasons if last night was any indication. Hopefully the rematch results in a better decision for the Eagles.
