Lalonde and Tkachev will be in the lineup tonight so it will be our first look at our full squad. Should be a good game.
New format for the Pink jerseys this year. Based on an e-mail the Wildcats sent out, it seems like there is no longer an auction for the pink jerseys and it is now a raffle. I know other teams do it this way but I'm not a fan. As long as it raises more money then that's what counts but if not then it really sucks. I would assume it would raise more money though since many more people will be able to contribute.

I think you'll get more people buying a handful of tickets ($10 worth maybe ?) than 50 people being winning bidder on a jersey (over 2 nights). If we suggest that the average price a jersey sells for is say $100 then they raise something in the area of $5000. They'd need 500 people to average $10 on tickets to equal that ... which I think is probably easily achieved. Where it is for a great cause ... some people probably buy $50 worth of tickets. Mr. Irving will probably buy $500 worth.
I think it is probably a better idea. The auction leaves a lot of people out of the process that can't afford to spend $100 on a jersey. A raffle lets everybody in.

A raffle lets everybody in. I don't disagree with you but I can tell you the average price of a jersey is over $200. I've never seen a jersey go for under $100. Low end jerseys are between 100-150 while the more popular players hover over 200 with elite players fetching as much as 400-500. The auctions carry over, they don't restart. They only auction off 1 jersey but I seem to recall them saying they raised over $10,000 so I'm not sure what else that entails. Pucks, ties, etc I guess.

I seem to recall that they auctioned off 2 jerseys for each player last year, because each night they listed the winners names on the big screen. Or, did they do half of them one night and the other half the next night ? I'm old and my memory is fading ... so I'm probably wrong. But whatever it is, I think the raffle includes everybody that wants a jersey (I don't want a jersey) and not just the ones that can afford to bid $200 or more. I'll buy tickets to support the cause ... and I think many others will also, even though they probably have no use for a jersey. If we have 4000 people you'll probably see that something like 1500 get involved in buying tickets. The opportunity is there, I think, to raise more money.

He went to Adirondack's camp for a couple days and was released. Wow! Must not have made a very good impression on them... Goes to show that there is a pretty big gap between major junior and the AHL ... Also, AHL is a tough league to crack if you aren't on an NHL contract ... each team would have their roster pretty much filled by guys sent down from the parent club - and for the few extra spots they may have, they generally prefer veteran minor pros who have had success in the AHL in the past to undrafted rookies out of major junior. Unsigned junior guys invited to camp are usually just fillers until the NHL team makes enough cuts for them to have sufficient bodies for practice. Lalonde likely would have had to be one of the best players on the ice to have any chance of getting signed.

He went to Adirondack's camp for a couple days and was released. Wow! Must not have made a very good impression on them... I don't think he makes a good impression most shifts. He is talented offensively ... good PK guy ... but 5 on 5 he seems to coast around waiting for the puck to come to him. Great Jr player ... but I think his next step is CIS hockey, or perhaps ECHL.

Most AHL teams are mssing 5 of their top players as they are still at NHL camps, plus they'd want to keep around 30 guys around to play 3-4 exhibtions and establish the guys that will play ECHl and be top callups. It's the first time I see an OA from the Q going to an AHL camp and coming back 3 days later...even Howe stayed a week when he went and he was a 4th line Q guy.

I couldn't agree more. Most of us were disappointed when the Cats selected him in the dispersal draft...he's developped in to a good 20 year old Junior player but I am not surprised he's back this quick.

Dominant game by the Barbashev line, they basically beat the Huskies by themselves...Defense and Dubeau were shaky.
Somebody should send out a search party for Askew...nobody has seen him since the exhibition game at the 4 plex....in other news Mark Simpson has 7 goals in 7 games!

You gotta remember he's only 17 but yes he's been invisible all year. He's on pace for 34 pts not good enough for 2nd line C On the bright side, he got a shot tonight

We're going to use "on pace" numbers 6 games into the season?
