We're going to use "on pace" numbers 6 games into the season? Sure why not IMO Askew will be fine, he'll be a point a game player next year if not this year! #GoCatsGo

Dominant game by the Barbashev line, they basically beat the Huskies by themselves...Defense and Dubeau were shaky. Somebody should send out a search party for Askew...nobody has seen him since the exhibition game at the 4 plex....in other news Mark Simpson has 7 goals in 7 games! You gotta remember he's only 17 but yes he's been invisible all year. He's on pace for 34 pts not good enough for 2nd line C On the bright side, he got a shot tonight 34 points would be natural progression since he had only 14 last year he is on pace for zero goals tho that would be rather hard to stomach in all seriousness he shouldn't be looked at as a second line center yet.... if you guys decide to contend that spot will need to be upgraded for sure

It's to bad but you can see the kid has talent, just needs to be more consistent, maybe trying him with different players until he finds his game on more consistent bases.

I was disappointed last night that they didn't give Ryan Penny a star. I know the 3 that got stars all were deserving ... but I don't think we deserved all 3 stars. They could have given the "hardest worker" to Barbashev and given Penny 3rd star ... would have been a good moment to acknowledge him.

For me it's not even consistency, it's effort level. If a guy shows up 95% of games and works hard, even if he has an off night you can forgive him because the effort is there. Askew just looks disinterested.

What gets me is that we keep hearing about all these American kids and how they would have been top picks if they had said they were committed to the QMJHL, but most of them are no better than the kids we have right here in our own back yard. Should have just hung onto Simpson and the other assets. They gave up a lot to get Brandon Shea and same thing happened.

Cam Askew is 17 years old and holding his own. I expect him to breakout during the second half. He'll be here for another 3 1/2 seasons.

He'd be 2nd line center and 2md PP. He gets more oppprtunity in Bathurst. If you are comparing a 19 YO to a 17 YO you are not understanding the game.

You make good points...BUT...Askew has gooten a lot of opportunities, 2nd line and 2nd Pp is nothing to sneeze at, plus it's not like Askew is a rookie, he has a year under his belt already, if you're premium talent worth all those assets, you should be a contributor at 17, not a passenger. Another question for me is, if they really intend to contend this year, why move Yarwood and Simpson for younger players, then ending up similar players at midseason this year. Building a team that can beat Quebec, Rimouski etc will require 2 top 4 d-men(right now Sweeney is a solid #2 and Johnston a #4), a 2nd line center and a big winger to play opposite Tkachev. Plus maybe 1-2 role players...

Plus maybe 1-2 role players... We get it, you don't like Askew. Sure he gets 2nd PP but for the most part the 1st PP plays 1:45 of every PP anyway. I actually like his game so far, thought he got a few good chances last night. I always enjoy how early people give up on 17 YO players. If you watched the 2nd line at all last night you'd see for the most part Conor Garland trying for end to end rushes and stickhandling around every one (to his credit his efforts almost led to a few goals) followed by a whistle and then top line coming on. I don't think they've made any statements about contending yet, better yet I think its a wait and see approach depending where they are.The only statements I've seen is talking about having a competitive team every year which when you look at the trades they've made actually does make sense with that plan. Leaving a good mix of veterans and young players. The division is more than up for grabs right now. Cape Breton looks very strong offensively but has serious questions in net (though they have plenty of assets to address that) Charlottetown is off to some early struggles and may not get Johnston back and has a very young team. I dont see any other team in the picture. What role players do they need? This team has plenty of role players and the fact that they are 92% on the PK so far (4% ahead of the next best team) proves that. To me a top 6 FW and top pairing D would be the assets needed to put them in the conversation...not the exaggerated 6 assets you mention above. I feel like this team could go on a 10 game winning streak and you'd still be on here being negative about Askew, Tassi and discussing the Gormley deal and missing out on Makarov.
