He is not the first moosehead in the last few years to receive a DUI

Not being of the facebook society I dont have interest in hearing things that even the police dont release if they should not. Of course now is the age of guilty before proven innocent so some sleep with their phone in their hands to hear it first, Others kill while driving phone/text drunk.
I just want to watch hockey, thats all I pay for not the metro enquirer.

It'll be interesting to see what happens for this young man. To say the Moose are in unchartered territory is an understatement. This young man needs some serious help and I am hopeful he receives it. And glad he was okay, all things considered.

As far as most of us are concerned, being a young person myself it's no one's buisness but the law and the teams to discipline, not supposed to post about their personal lives I know my personal life isn't all over the internet. Somebody drinking and driving is everyone's business, this is way beyond hockey.

We don't know that he has problems, he could be an occasional drinker that made a bad choice. Whatever the case may be, hopefully he learns from this.

You're somewhat correct, we as a group don't know. However I know that he could have a serious problem. Which is why I said it will be interesting to see where this goes. I don't know him personally or I would certainly speak to him directly. It's not the DUI or parked car I'm speaking of. It will really be up to him to get the help he needs. Or someone close to him that is in the know.

I should mention this, I believe Palov knows more than the story at hand. And as such, I respect him for not speaking on the matter. I suppose he could have mentioned what the media has stated already but that wouldn't be addressing the entire story and thus he still wouldn't be doing his job. Some things, especially when dealing with a young adult, might be best left out of the media. Again, if Mr. Palov is in the know, I respect his decision to not make this a headline with his name tagged to it. He has a professional relationship with many of these players and sometimes has to decide what the right thing to do is. He's much better at reporting on the game, not the events outside of the game. Many of you know enough to be satisfied for why a trade happens. Lovell for example. There is more to that story than others need know as well. And I believe Palov has known these and other facts within the team. So props to him for doing his job and keeping the reporting limited to mainly the events that occur around the rink.
This one is a little more than just an alcohol abuse matter. Much more than this organization has had to deal with and may even know about at this time. At the end of the day, nobody was hurt and this young man has a chance and opportunity to at minimum learn from this and move on, and seek help as he likely now has the channels to use any help he may need and want. I enjoy watching him play and hope that he is able to return. But he needs to be in a good spot for that to happen first.

Button line dude, there is little mention of this issue. In any other league in this region we get something. As far as recent history for the Mooseheads, if memory served me correctly, everyone has behaved well so there hasn't been really any issues since Marchand. CIS players get disciplined all the time with little to no mention of it in the papers, let alone the specific details. If you're talking about Tyler Richards and the Rainmen - that's a completely different issue as there was criminal charges laid and he was an adult.
Is it still a completely different issue now that the truth is out? I had responded to this yesterday but I deleted it because my information was still "rumour". Turns out the source was bang on. Last time I checked, 19 is an adult, and a DUI is a criminal offence, where charges haven't been laid yet, but probably will be. That being said, the Herald really has no choice but to run with the story now that it's been made public. LOL at the current news outlets not naming the player involved, but revealing he's 19. Hmm, wonder who that could be?

I had a thread that was questioning the rumour on Thursday, that was deleted. Was it because it was only a rumour at that time? And it's not bang on. It may be more, the fact they are still investigating may bring out some additional details.

Unfortunate situation for Vuic. Made a bad decision, luckily he's ok and didn't hurt anyone. Serious matter. Hopefully it was just a bad night, where he made a mistake, and not a bigger issue for him. Glad to hear the team is sticking by him, and making sure he gets the help needed.
As for the media/Palov etc, it's ridiculous. Palov writes for the Chronicle Herald not TMZ. This story involves public safety, and so I agree with it being in the media and reported on, but it comes down to the appropriate time. The matter is technically still under investigation, so the police still aren't naming who it was. The team released a statement, so everybody knows now, and so I think at this point, it's appropriate to write an article.
I don't doubt Palov knew about it last week, but we don't know how much he knew. What's he gonna do, write a two sentence article saying Vuic was arrested, and that's it? He likely didn't have all the details, comments from Cam, the team etc, so what's he gonna say? I didn't go to journalism school, but I'm pretty sure one of the things they teach is not to report on something until you have detailed credible information from credible sources. Hell, I think even TMZ does that.

As I tweeted yesterday, the team is standing by him and I personally think the Halifax fan base should as well; fortunately no one was hurt and the kid made a mistake.

Vuic is a GOOD kid who made a very BAD choice. We've all been there, all made mistakes. He's lucky he has a team like Halifax willing to stick by him and help him through whatever it is he is going through. These boys are under an enormous amount of pressure and they are all still very young, not to mention they play in a town where they are quasi-celebrities, they think they are untouchable - not the case. I think the fact that nobody was hurt is a blessing, learned an invaluable life lesson that he and the other boys on the team will learn from.
