5-3 Moose if Moose team #1 shows up. 6-1 Islanders if Moose team #2 shows up. I'm convinced there are two Moose teams. How else could you explain the swings so far this year?

This team is defintely jekyll and hyde. Usually a rebuilding team can look good against middle of the pack teams and awful against top teams but there's no consistency or logic behind some of the performances so far.
It would be nice to get at least a consistent effort game to game. Ducharme isn't exactly looking like an NHL caliber coach so far with a below average team.
Ehlers really needs to get it going too.

Islander will be without Guilbault and Balmas who are both on their way to the World-U17 Challenge.
Ross Johnston is still out with an injury.
18yr old Josh Shatford has been called up from the MHL....and newly signed 17yr Fw, Chris Chaddock, makes his major junior debut tonight for the ISlanders.

They will be missing 16 yo's. But it does say something that we don't have any 16yo's going to play for team Canada.

There were probably 55-60 16yos taken in the 1st round by all CHL teams. 13 of the 19 Q players picked for the U17 were drafted in the 1st round. 6 were drafted in the 2nd round. The fact that Crossley isn't one of those 6 isn't that big of a deal. I think if we had 3 picks in the first 2 rounds and none of them made the World U17, that would be more of a concern. This core of young players we have isn't going to win the Memorial Cup in 3 years... they just aren't that highly-touted. Our rebuild really hasn't started yet. Selling off some of our assets at Christmas will make 2015-16 year one of the rebuild. We should be aiming for 3-4 years after that, which is unfortunate for us fans. But I think that's the reality of the situation, and rushing anything would be disastrous.

It is October, what were your expectations? I don't care what happens this year, whatever happens...happens. Just do right by the future!

I just don't consider us rebuilding this year... basically just falling off. Maybe it's just a different way of looking at it. I believe a team is at their very worst during year one of the rebuild, and I fully expect us to be worse next year. I definitely wouldn't argue with someone if they considered this year a rebuilding year.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the first year of the beginning of the process of the rebuild. You have to dismantle it first before you build it back up, this year is the first year you do that (selling your most marketable assets for returns that you hope will lead you to your next championship run). Next season won't be much better than this, so you continue to dismantle, continue to trade who ever is left who has any trade value. Those returns will be the pieces of your next title run, or at least be used to get pieces for your next run.

The sell at Xmas would also ensure higher picks, although they are doing a good job of that now. High euro being important with Elhers situation and no trade to get the higher pick.
As for the game that team takes too many low percentage shots with no one in the dirty areas. They look good doing it though making the spud goalie look good too!
