I would consider him. I do not know a whole lot about him but that would be the case with any coach that is not recycled like what I mentioned in my previous post.

About time some troubleshooting occurs. My #1 would be to get a new coach. Not an old recycled coach but a new young gun they take a chance on. Everyone has to start somewhere. I only have to point to the success of Pascal Vincent from the good days ( no playoff success though!) and Ducharme with Hfx. Who knows though , Durocher may end up here yet. I respect Dumont and think he should stay on as GM. Similar to what one of the Hfx fans suggested a month ago. However , I am starting to lose my respect for him as a coach. They need to bring in new blood to work with the talent Dumont built here. thechronicleherald.ca/sports/1200023-howie-centre-s-chris-culligan-lives-hockey-s-ups-downsCurrently playing in Cardiff alongside Joey Haddad, same team that Stuart MacRae captained a few years back. It's essentially the worst pro league in Europe and he's not exactly lighting it up so he's probably out of a job there soon unless he has a hell of a season from here on out (unlikely). There's an Assistant Coach for you lol I don't like the idea of a 20 something Head Coach but I do like the idea of developing/grooming one. Only other guys I can think of are Kelly Nobes and just because it's cliche to throw his name in the mix in CB, Fabian Joseph.

How about a local boy,Dougie Sulliman.Played in the NHL and has five years coaching experience in the NHL.I have watched this guy run some drills and practices locally and this guy knows what he is doing.

The Elite League is pretty much on a par with the ECHL but Culligan has been poor and there are British players on that team that have been better than him and that's saying something!

It really really isn't. Some of the teams only dress 13 players on certain nights which includes Scottish teenagers lol Others dress closer to a full roster but only use 2 lines regularly & use the 3rd like we would use a 4th. There are some ex-ECHLers but the quality of the games are not on par with ECHL. Trust me, I suffered through enough broadcasts.

A hell of a lot of them say the leagues are comparable but there is a divide in strength of teams and only one of the Scottish teams can compete. Edinburgh, Fife and Dundee are like Bathurst. Belfast, Sheffield, Nottingham, Cardiff, Braehead and Coventry could compete in the ECHL no problem. But saying that I live on the doorstep of one rink (Sheffield) but never go.

Well of course not many players are going to admit they play in a poor league lol Coventry has this kid: www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=85652 playing on a line with Ryan O'Marra. Nottingham has this guy: www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=37293 that was cut from the OHL after 1 game & the ECHL after 4 I see Dundee at the bottom right now but they weren't last year. They have this guy: www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=64638 that just went back after being cut by multiple teams in USA including 2 ECHL teams. All of those players are playing on the first two lines of their teams. Go watch a game, there's no pace to the game at all.

I've seen a lot of games in the league and have had to cover it on plenty of occasions for work. Last season was the only year since Dundee joined the league that they haven't been in the basement. But I'll only watch the EIHL if I have too since I prefer watching Junior/AHL/NHL.

The 10 team UK based EIHL is probably at least as strong as the ECHL. The mid pack Cardiff Devils have 11 players on their roster who have played games in the AHL at some time.
Cully has not been playing on the power play since early in the season because he and Brent Walton play basically the same side boards role and it makes sense to put players like 6' 5" Doug Clarkson and 6' 2" Jesse Mychan in front of the goalie instead. He has played center on all the top 3 lines and is used killing penalties. He has also missed some playing time because of dirty hits.
Recently, despite never having played the position before Cully helped the team when Cardiff was down to only 4 defense which has not hurt his value to the team at all. He played on D in 4 or 5 games and here are two post game comments.
The Cardiff Devils handed the visiting Sheffield Steelers their first loss of the season in league action with an impressive performance in front of another sold out show down in Cardiff Bay on Sunday Night. The Devils were without the injured Carl Hudson and the suspended Trevor Hendrikx, so it was Chris Culligan who stepped out of his normal forward position to add some depth to a depleted defensive core. That meant a shake up to the forward lines as well, but the team showed up with their best performance of the season.
Coach Lord summed things up by saying, “The key factor is that we had a great response on home ice and came out on top. Our four D stepped up, Chris Culligan was incredible back there and overall we were extremely good on offence.
After a 4-0 win over the Coventry Blaze playing coach Andrew Lord said, "We are also missing Carl, but our defencemen did a great job. Chris Culligan was selfless playing on D. He's a high end forward and is filling that role to help the team."
Chris Culligan was always a great team first player both with the Eagles and with UNB!

They also have this guy on their roster: www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=67785There's an import level of 12 and the vast majority of them have AHL/ECHL experience. 12 players is only 2 lines + 1 + a goalie (or +2 if you have a Brit goalie like Cardiff & Belfast). The ECHL has 4 lines of ECHL/AHL experienced players & dozens of players that are knocking on the door to take a spot of a player who doesn't perform well, unlike EIHL. The pace is slower, the depth is worse, the officiating is worse, and the coaching is worse. I don't know of many ECHL teams with a 29 year old player-coach like Andrew Lord. There have been some player-coaches that have used the experience to propel themselves into coaching careers in North America though. If Culligan is serious about it, it could be the right place for him. How did we get on coaching in the QMJHL Draft pick thread lol

Just to update this thread that got off track somehow, last night the Cardiff Devils moved back into a 2nd place tie with a 8-5 win. Joey Haddad had 2 goals and 2 assists and Chris Culligan not playing as linemates, had 3 assists. Culli set up his left winger for 3 goals. The Devils are 5 pts out of 1st and have 3 games in hand on the 1st place team and a game in hand on the other 2nd place team. Culli, now playing forward again full time has 3 goals and 5 assists in his last 6 games. Here's a link to a nice highlight goal by Culli #57.
