Great first period as far as controlling the flow of the game. The lines look to be more in synch, and maybe Lussier's return with his skill and experience has made a big difference in bumping some others down the playing chart. Lots of shots, not many great chances though as we have a "throw it at the net" style from every line after our first lol. Still, great energy and outside of the Victo game, the team has been playing better and better lately. I expect PEI will adjust and come out hard in the 2nd.

Do the Moosehead's hit anymore? According to the stats we have 2 hits in 2 periods. Pretty sad.

Looks like Meier just sealed it. Have we won 2 straight so far this year? Regardless, it's been a great weekend of hockey for the club. Lussier being back has made a world of difference. Edit- And the shutout. Nice. Good weekend for Fucale too. 1.000 GAA with 1 goal clearly being goaltender interference

Well... was not expecting that. Solid team win, carried the play and really protected our end fairly well. Pretty easy shutout for Fucale.

You guys really did control the game from start to finish... however I would say the shutout wasn't as easy as it appeared.. we had numerous chances right in the crease and couldnt capitalize.. we also hit at least 3 posts

Congrats to Dominic Ducharme on becoming the Mooseheads all time leader in coaching wins with 151; Shawn MacKenzie had 150.
Zach Fucale is tied for 5th in regular season shutouts with 11.
The team is playing better and getting the results. Progress is being made, though they still have a ways to go.

WTG boys and Congrats Dom, 3 wins from .500 bring on the Sea Dogs if we play like we did this weekend should be a dandy Fri night. Nice to see we had 6 goals this weekend, maybe just shooting the puck more and the confidence is coming back.

Nice to see we had 6 goals this weekend, maybe just shooting the puck more and the confidence is coming back. I think its more about the D in the last 2 games. Not spending as much time in own end and the offense coming from D getting it up ice. The added confidence comes when they dont get scored on and have time to stick to a game plan while not having to come from behind. SJ has done a good job putting pressure on the D so I see that as the test of what these 2 games mean. It would seem Lussier and Leblanc have given a shot to the defensive system especially the D parings.

Was Shewfelt hurt Sunday or was it just hit turn to be a healthy scratch? I haven't seen anything from him to make me think he's in the dog house. Although 1 point in his last 15 games isn't doing him any favors.

Although 1 point in his last 15 games isn't doing him any favors. I am disappointed, offensively, in Shewfelt, Falkenham and Fortier. They all seem to have a good combo of speed and skill but haven't contributed anything offensively really. Fortier in particular, IMO, looks like he should be able to do more. He always seems to be noticeable and do things creatively, but never ends up with a big chance or goal. He seems like he is on the verge of breaking out, or at least, should be close to breaking out. He could be one of those guys who gets a bigger role after Xmas and finishes up very strong.

Although 1 point in his last 15 games isn't doing him any favors. He made an absolutely boneheaded play by getting the Mooseheads an intentional offside on Saturday night with under a minute left and up by a goal. That along with his lack of production possibly made Ducharme's decision to sit him yesterday.

I think Fortier will adjust to the grind of the Q soon enough, and will start to produce more in the 2nd half. Falkenham almost has to adjust as well. He was a 4th liner with PK time for the first 2 seasons of his Q career. Then he missed a full season. He has to adjust to the increased ice time too. As I mentioned in the other thread, I too think Shewfelt's start has been disappointing. Call it a sophmore slump, or call it he wasn't that prolific of a scorer to begin with.

Yes he played a hand full of games last year but he is still considered a rookie. That plus he's only 17yo. We here have been spoiled by world class 17yo phenoms in MacKinnon, Drouin, and Elhers, one could argue Fucale to for that matter. Is Fortier that caliber of player? God no! Another thing about him, is he started the year playing center. That was a new position for him that he had to get used to. He never fully caught on so that's part of his slow start. He will be fine and if he gets around 50pts on the season that a good year for him. I think 40 is a good season for that matter.

Regarding Fortier in particular - I wasn't expecting too much per se coming into the season, but rather when I watch him (last year, and this year) he looks like he has the tools to produce more right now. I am just surprised he hasn't produced more given the talent I see in him many shifts. But again, its a 1/4 season report. Lots can change over the next quarter and the rest of the way. And no, I was never comparing him to MacKinnon, Drouin or Ehlers. The other guys are more 3rd line guys at best, but was hoping that with 2nd line icetime and some PP time, they would be able to get on the scoresheet more frequently.
