IMO trade period: SJ- neutral, small trades Mon- Buy, Medium to big trades CHA- Buy, Medium trades CB- Buy, Medium trades HFX- Sell, Medium to big trades Bat- neutral, medium shuffle I agree this is what probably will happen. Bathurst SHOULD be selling but probably won't. "Shuffle" is a good word to use lol. I actually think we could see a bit of shuffling in Charlettown as well. Halifax is just as in it as any other team, and could with a full lineup start playing better than .500 hockey until Christmas, the problem is unlike the other teams in the division we don't have the assets to buy and we don't have a competitive team for the future as it stands. Over the next 2-4 years we have some holes to fill (not the least of which being a Goaltender). As much as it would sting to sell off on a potentially good team, I don't think we have much of a choice if we don't want to be spinning our wheels for the next few years.

Just thought I'd mention Crossley is at 21 games without a single point. Other than some flashes as a penalty killing specialist, I'd call him a bit of a disappointment. He doesn't seem to have any desire or ability to generate offence, and seems happy to just stay back and play defensively all the time. You can get guys like that in later rounds... not sure what the scouting staff saw in the kid that made them think they had to scoop him up at #21. I'd say he's just been unlucky and fluky to not have a point but when you watch him play, he never even gets in a position to help his line generate offense, so I'd say it's not a fluke.

Anyone who thinks Matt Murphy might get at least a first in a trade really had better lower their expectations.
He has been brutal this year. Turnovers for someone touted as being one of the better D in the league is alarming. Top D just don't make the constant turnovers he is.
There have been some disappointments on the Moose this year but none close to Murphy. He has to be better.

He's much better than he's playing right now, and I blame it on the lack of experience on the team overall. The team is pretty awful- let's face it. Halifax was once thought of as a mid pack, .500+ team, but it's looking more like bottom 6 .400 team if they are lucky. There goes another high pick lol.... at least you can blame Murphy for that one. Grats to VD for fleecing Halifax on that trade.... again. They have completely schooled the Moose on trades going as far back as Benoit Dusablon. Embarrassing.

Hopefully some things turn around in the next month, or it becomes a big time sellers market. Because of what most considered to be the big trade chips for the Moose this year, pretty much all are lowering their value (Murphy, Fucale, Gadoury). Fucale is looking more and more like a solid goalie who was made to look great behind a great team. I'll be surprised if we get star player return for him

When he can't get it, he won't trade him. I would imagine Cam is not sleeping all that well this year - he's not in a great position. His players are underperforming, and the pressure to trade them is high.

We have our first pick for this draft 2015. I think Val'dor had last year's first. I think Crossley was picked high because of his name.

I never get coming on and bashing 16yr old rookies. Makes no sense to me.
They're ROOKIES. They will look out of place...they will turn the puck over...they'll get overmatched physically....they won't produce much offense. Don't we all know this in August?
Who cares if Crossley has 0 points. It's about getting adjusted to the league. Assessing a 16yr old by how many pts he has is ridiculous. The same people will be singing his praises in a yr or two.
Rookies not named Drouin or MacKinnon, get a free pass imo. Starts for real in year 2.

As far as the team goes if they dump anything of value they should finish in the bottom 2. I see it as a must this year, not next, which maybe the case if they dont dump except it extends the rebuild. Getting the top 2 pick can equal a chance to wheel and deal while often getting the player they want anyway. A couple months of losses could equal a lot more quality prospects next year to watch develop. The Moose dont even really have any stud 20s on their roster for next year.

Well if you can get your hands on the time on ice numbers you would know exactly why Crossley gets 0 points. He never gets ice time. He really only gets PK time and consistently PK. Not sure a 16 year old will rack up points doing that. Do we even have a SH goal yet this year? He did get points in the exhibition season and playing regular minutes.

I'll be surprised if we get star player return for him This Murphy value is dictated by who wants D. I can think of several teams whining they need D. I also heard one fan of Cape Breton say their D has not been very good and will not take the next step without someone being brought in. Murphy is pretty much the only 19 year old D available relatively easily who you get to keep for a second kick at the can next year. As long as he doesnt make pro as a 20...there most definitely is a market for him. Just because so many teams need D - and for Cape Breton for example if they plan to gel as a team in 2nd half leading to playoffs it has to be addressed.
