Go to 17:28 for the Hardie hit on Marsh live.theqmjhl.ca/qmjhl/live.jsp?id=786That's really tough to tell if he catches him on the chin. It looked like Marsh his head on the ice. At the time, Hardie was pissed that he got the penalty, and the hit was after the whistle (although the whistle was late and that linesman's whistle was quiet all night). If Saint John "sent in the tape", they might have a case.

Nauss and Taillefer killed us in the second period. Every time that pairing was out there we could NOT get out of the zone. Nauss is really good offensively but in his own end he's still a mess. Taillefer is way too effin' slow. The 3rd goal was a joke, how easily Dundas just skated past him. Didn't occur to Taillefer to turn around and skate with the guy until he was already by him. We all seem to like Nauss so we're going to watch him more closely, and yah, he's still 16 and going to make 16yo mistakes defensively. We'll have to live with it until he adjusts defensively to the major junior level. Relatively speaking, I thought Bent and Leblanc played an excellent game. They gave Saint John fits for two periods. Unfortunately that caused the fights which got them kicked out of the game. Dundas did have another strong game for Saint John. And I agree that Bent and Sam Leblanc played well for Halifax. But are you suggesting that Ross Yates sent out arguably his top line ... on a power play ... to start a fight in order to get Kelly Bent and Leblanc kicked out of the game??? If anything, I would argue Bent was sent out to sucker one of Dempsey, Tremaine and Dundas into a retaliation penalty. There is no way in hell that Darrell Young would trade that line to Halifax for Bent, Leblanc and Murphy. Although Murphy would be a great addition to the Sea Dogs.

I didn't mean to suggest anything in that post. I don't think anyone was sent out to fight anyone. Bent and Leblanc are a known PK tandem. But I do know that they were getting under the Dogs skin all night. I'm not surprised at what happened, but I don't there was any ill-intent on either coaches' part.

I agree on Nauss on Tailefer to slow on defense What happen With Elhers blowing his top not his best game from a long stretch! Seems like Ehlers is blowing his top quite a lot this year. He seems frustrated with a lot of the attention he is getting this year from the opposition. Maybe the opposition is getting away with a lot of shit against him. I guess he will have to learn to deal with it, but it would be nice if the referee's would make some calls on some of these cheap shots and other penalties against Ehlers.

Ehlers is getting more attention from other teams but that comes with the territory. He needs to learn how to keep his cool, with the refs especially. There's been several times this year he's been close to crossing that line with the refs and last night he earned every minute he got. He has to accept that other teams are going to target him and play his game and let the refs make the calls. Throwing a hissy fit when he doesn't agree with the call isn't getting him anywhere.

I agree on Nauss on Tailefer to slow on defense What happen With Elhers blowing his top not his best game from a long stretch! They're also only 16 and 17...comes with the territory of playing young kids. In 2 years from now, if they're still too slow, then we can complain. I don't think we will tho. Especially with Nauss.

I think you need to lower your expectations. I am sure you want the team to rebuild by selling as much as most fans. You are going to be in for a long season if the Moose carry out your wishes and trade vets. It will get far worse before better. What is the alternative to playing the rookies?

More importantly, why does poor HAL look so strange? Big Pants or short legs?

Unfortunately there isn't much of an alternative to playing the rookies, but clearly there is some work to be done in terms of teaching these kids how to play in the defensive end. If Taillefer and Josh Fitzgerald may not have a future in the Q if there isn't some improvement.
