Well that was... interesting.
Best 2 minutes for roughing ever by Fortier. He definitely earned them. How that wasn't a fight I'm not so sure. Could've been a big goof-up by Ducharme not putting anyone in the penalty box after the Moynihan fiasco. Also I guess Malatesta got a game misconduct for 3rd man in, yet Moynihan got an aggressor penalty? That seems a bit stupid. I agree with the Moynihan aggressor, but giving a 3rd man in penalty in that case is dumb.
Two wins against # 1 ranked Rimouski and # 6 ranked Moncton. Buy Buy Buy!

It was a great three minutes, then we did a good job of hanging around and hanging on.
Dubeau was solid as he seems to be against us most of the time. Rumble starting the back-up probably gave us the game as a couple of the goals where a tad weak.
Hope they send in the Cormier hit on Fitzgerald. Could have been called a charge as he had a full head of steam when he hit him. Good on Bent for going at him.
Great to see Garland get the diving penalty, first time he dove they called Ehlers but next time the reffs caught it. He is a shifty little player but I have no respect for the way he plays, floating , diving and constantly yapping to the reffs. His dive helped us kill the five minute penalty to Connor so Garlands selfishness hurt his team.
Good win always great to beat Moncton. I hope Moncton does go for it this year. Can't see them making it and then down to the bottom they go.

Can't see them making it and then down to the bottom they go. About Garland: I think he's a very intelligent hockey player. He seems to know exactly how to get under people's skin, and he gets away with the stupid stuff he does more often than not. I thought he was going to get away with that pick, but he ended up getting called. I think at that point he should've stuck to hockey, as the refs were watching him after the Ehlers penalty. He got greedy and went for it again, and it cost him a diving penalty, and two minutes of that 6.5 minute power play Moncton ended up getting. I think he would be a more effective hockey player if he stuck to hockey. Maybe backcheck a little as well. He's like Drouin, in that he's very effective WHEN he backchecks. But more often than not he glides back. No doubt where the majority of Halifax fans stand with them though. He got a standing ovation when he took that diving penalty.

Moynihan deserved what he got but he did it for the right reason. It was a high hit on LeBlanc and Connor stomped him for it. Good on him for sticking up for him. Any body else see Dubeau poke Bent in the face directly in front of the ref?

Any body else see Dubeau poke Bent in the face directly in front of the ref? Kelly Bent wll rarely get those calls because lets face it he is the biggest s-disturber in the division. His game gets old. He is always removing his mouthpiece and yapping and Dubeau probably got sick of it. Yesterday Bent acted like he was shot in the corner and rolled around hoping ref would call something. When play went on and Bent realized he would not get even an injury stoppage he jumped to his skates and next thing u know play developed sending him in on a breakaway and he scored. The ref probably saw the whole play (with Dubeau) and allowed it.

Great weekend boys, not as solid on D today but a win is a win and Zach was good when he had to be as well, Hope they keep it going in Quebec will be tough; but we proved this weekend that we stick to our game plan that we can play with anyone in the league. Connor will likely get suspended and we are down two five D so there will likely be some call ups for the road trip.

I hope Smith and Russell are a lot smarter than that......I hope. They played well this weekend, but every bad team has a good streak every once in a while. If Smith/Russell change their approach to not sell at least to some degree at the trade deadline because of this weekend, they are either stupid/delusional (I don't think they are) or give absolutely no regard for the future of the organization on the ice; i.e. gross hockey mismanagment toward the team's future, which I don't think is the case. The lean years from 2008-2010 would seem like a picnic compared to what they would be if they don't sell in the next 6-7 months. By this I mean the lean years would be extended by a couple of years. They have the young defencemen that are learing on the job, but have no offensive skill forwards in the pipeline and you don't know about Kevin Resop in goal if he can be the next no. 1 starter. I do believe they will sell to some degree; to what degree will depend on the the teams looking to buy and the offers the Mooseheads get.

Hopefully some guys can stay hot until Christmas, at the very least this is making guys like Sam Leblanc look very appealing come trade period.
Also I mentioned this on Friday to my buddy but : Vuic looks like he'd fit right in with Rimouski.
Not saying we'll necessarily sell the barn but, it doesn't hurt to have teams wanting to make offers.

He is worth more to us than he would get in a trade, which is very little. He may still develop nicely but no contender would pay much for a guy like that.

We all remember the three year 'lean' period. However, keep in mind that stretch was precipitated by the Marchand trade and the high price we paid, not because we didn't sell off assets. Given the cyclical nature of Jr hockey, the bad times can't really get worse than a three year stretch, whatever we do or not do this year. It could be made shorter than three years though!
