It will be interesting to see what the Cats will do after Christmas - shore up some loose areas or unload assets for a rebuild. Comments!!

I think they have way too many holes to really contend...but it didn't stop them from trying last time...and get wiped out in 5 straight by Victo.

Last thing I heard ... last week I think it was ... his status was "out indefinitely ". All that means is there is no date set yet for his return. It would be nice to him back before Barbashev leaves for the WJC.

Where did you hear this? This is not good for the cats. I thought his injury was going to be a simple quick fix.

Huh? It was a 4-6 weeks injury so we all knew he was going to be out for at least this long. From what I understand I don't think he's too far away, but you never know exactly how these things will heal.

If we're looking to buy , Aube-Kubel is the guy I'd target. He's the second line center we're lacking and plays well defensively. He's been underachieving this season which may make the cost a little bit more down to earth. Another great thing about him is he's 18 , so will be back next season as well. I know he's going to cost extra but I'd rather spend a bit more on a guy we'll have an extra season. On defense , Dylan Labbe if he's available from Shawinigan would be a good fit. He's a veteran two-way guy that could slot in with Sweeney on the top pairing. I'm not 100% sold on Rioux as a backup either . Dubeau hasn't been the goaltender we thought we'd have and come playoffs I think it would be wise to have a solid #2 option. Maybe Flescher from Drummondville. They picked Brodeur off waivers which would leave one goalie expandable , although many think that Guindon is on the move.
I realize our cupboards aren't full so in order to make these trades , some futures would have to be involved. It would also mean giving up our top picks in 2015 and 2016.
Dubeau Flescher
Sweeney Labbe Talbot-Tassi - Johnston Malatesta - Holwell Klebansky
Tkachev Barbashev Garland Lalonde Aube-Kubel Askew Smith Johnson Leger Olivier Murphy Cormier Tibbo Ducquette
Bower back to Jr.A
Just my two cents.

If you're not a true contender, better to dangle guys like Barbashev Tkachev Sweeney Dubeau and Lalonde than trade valuable young assets for a half assed run like 2 years ago.

I'll throw a few proposals out there. ---------------------------- To Moncton:
Nicholas Aube-Kubel(18)
To Val D'Or:
1st 2015 (MON) 2nd 2016 Eric Leger Mathieu Olivier at the draft
Aube-Kubel would slot in as our much needed second line center. He's a guy that can make room for Garland or Tkachev and plays physically. He's a good balance as he provides sound two-way play. He's been underachieving a little bit this season which may make the cost for this 18 year old a little bit more down to earth. If were going to buy , I'd rather pay a higher price and acquire guys that will be back next season.
-----------------------------
To Moncton:
Greg Allen
To Victoriaville:
Massimo Larusso(12th 2014) 4th 2015
With the cupboards bare , after using our little bit of assets on Aube-Kubel , Greg Allen is that defensive defenseman this team has been truly lacking. He plays a simple game and gets the job done. He also comes with that physical element to his game. He's good at clearing the front of the net and would make a solid #5 guy could slot in on the second pairing when needed. His play and possible role would be similar to a Maxime Belanger in 2006. Allen was a free agent addition for Victoriaville. My first choice would have been Dylan Labbe from Shawinigan but he would have cost a small fortune that we just don't have without giving up futures which wouldn't make sense while trying to keep the core intact for next season.
---------------------------------
To Moncton:
Joe Flescher
To Drummondville:
4th 2017(turns into a 3nd 2017 if he plays in the Q next season) 5th 2016 Marc-Olivier Duquette (6th 2014)
With Dubeau not playing like the goalie we thought he'd be this season and Moncton hoping to contend , I think everyone would agree a solid 1B option would be a necessity. Flescher is having a great season , boasting a .916% in 13 games. With the sudden waiver pick up of Anthony Brodeur , Drummondville will have 3 Q calibre goaltenders and be looking to move one. This can also be used as leverage when negotiating. He was also a free agent find for Drummondville. If his play continues , he could also be our third overager next season alongside Stephen Johnston and Garrett Johnston. Will Dubeau's eligible finished at the season's end and only Jason Rioux and will be rookie Sebastien Durpre , it makes even more sense to pull the trigger on this trade.
