CB would be a better contender than Moncton simply because they got assets to trade and interesting futures to dangle. Moncton is full of Euros and Americans who would not play anywhere else.
Rimouski just traded today for Charles-Emile Beaudoin from Drummondville , making them the best D in the Q; Morin-Beaudoin Kostalek/Bourque McSween/Picco/Rusk/Nasybullin
The Wildcats might possibly end up first in the Maritimes, the weakest Division in the Q, but are far away from a contender.

I'll throw a few proposals out there. ---------------------------- To Moncton: Nicholas Aube-Kubel(18) To Val D'Or: 1st 2015 (MON) 2nd 2016 Eric Leger Mathieu Olivier at the draft Aube-Kubel would slot in as our much needed second line center. He's a guy that can make room for Garland or Tkachev and plays physically. He's a good balance as he provides sound two-way play. He's been underachieving a little bit this season which may make the cost for this 18 year old a little bit more down to earth. If were going to buy , I'd rather pay a higher price and acquire guys that will be back next season. ----------------------------- To Moncton: Greg Allen To Victoriaville: Massimo Larusso(12th 2014) 4th 2015 With the cupboards bare , after using our little bit of assets on Aube-Kubel , Greg Allen is that defensive defenseman this team has been truly lacking. He plays a simple game and gets the job done. He also comes with that physical element to his game. He's good at clearing the front of the net and would make a solid #5 guy could slot in on the second pairing when needed. His play and possible role would be similar to a Maxime Belanger in 2006. Allen was a free agent addition for Victoriaville. My first choice would have been Dylan Labbe from Shawinigan but he would have cost a small fortune that we just don't have without giving up futures which wouldn't make sense while trying to keep the core intact for next season. --------------------------------- To Moncton: Joe Flescher To Drummondville: 4th 2017(turns into a 3nd 2017 if he plays in the Q next season) 5th 2016 Marc-Olivier Duquette (6th 2014) With Dubeau not playing like the goalie we thought he'd be this season and Moncton hoping to contend , I think everyone would agree a solid 1B option would be a necessity. Flescher is having a great season , boasting a .916% in 13 games. With the sudden waiver pick up of Anthony Brodeur , Drummondville will have 3 Q calibre goaltenders and be looking to move one. This can also be used as leverage when negotiating. He was also a free agent find for Drummondville. If his play continues , he could also be our third overager next season alongside Stephen Johnston and Garrett Johnston. Will Dubeau's eligible finished at the season's end and only Jason Rioux and will be rookie Sebastien Durpre , it makes even more sense to pull the trigger on this trade. Much like 2 years ago, you end up spenging good young assets for a run that's destined to fail from the start. Kubel-Aube is a RW, he's only taken 11 faceoffs all year. He wouldn't be a bad addition to the top 6, though more of a 2 way guy like Smith/Johnson than a high skill offensive guy. Not trying to be negative, just realist...people that see the whole QMJHL say that this division is a lot weaker and the head to head records show it also. The cats are only 5-5-0 against Quebec teams despite not having played Rimouski Quebec BBA B-C and played Sherbrooke once and lost.

Who's Charles Emile Beaudoin? I never heard of him I should have said Charles David beaudoin... Nevertheless rimouski spent a young prospect, a first and a second round pick on somebody you do not know about.... It should tell the Wildcats do not have the assets in order to plug the holes that need to be filled just to be included in a conversation about potential contenders.

And the obvious had to happen: trade Lalonde and Tachkev to build for the future....
IMO it took every Moncton fan by surprise.
