So I know every rumor you hear at the rink must be true.... but for the sake of debating why not throw it out here....
I've heard from numerous people ( some very credible some is more hot air than anything else)that Tkachev has been more of a scratch then an injury. Rumor has it * again can't stress this enough* that he was told to evaluate weather or not he wants to continue playing here..... his heart's not in it... I know he scores goals..... but the last few games I've seen him play in he wasn't spectacular.... he got hauled down and was whaling his hand in the air looking for a penalty, he killed every powerplay we had because he wouldn't pass the puck..... and floated at the read line essentially creating a 5-4 every shift he was on the ice for.....
what do you guys think? Do you think there's any truth to the rumor? do you see his play the same way I do or am I just being too hard on him?

And he wouldn't have missed the Russia Challenge. Maybe he was playing hurt before being place on the DL. That could have led to his lacklustre play in the last weeks before he stopped playing.

I would think it's a legit injury. Moncton has had guys with less offensive talent than Tkachev that were floaters/divers/poor defensive players etc etc and they never got any healthy scratching of this magnitude, if at all.

Yep, Rumble is the kind of coach to hold his players accountable for things like that and bench them but tkachev wouldn't be out this long if it wasn't a legit injury.

He definitely hasn't been the same player we saw last year thus far, but I hardly think they would make him a healthy scratch for almost a month.
If the Cats aren't happy with him though there's a certain Memorial Cup host team with an opening for a Euro...

Usually if they were to bench somebody it wouldn't be for 3 weeks. I know they had an issue with his compete level before he got hurt, but normally they'd scratch him 1-2 games max.

I know he's healthy, that was my point.... he was never really injured he just didn't want to play here anymore hence the sitting out for the last 6 weeks!

Why would he travel to the Super Series and not play? I agree with you on that one. That's crap, he's Russian, he's not stupid. He needs as much ice time and exposure he can get if he wants to get back to the NHL. No way in 2014 does 23 other hockey hungry teenagers let some "pissin' and moanin' kids sit in their entourage without someone putting a beat down on him to shake him up. Hell I think even Barbachev would have tuned him in if that was the case.

Wouldn't it be because he didn't play last year, whereas Tkachev did.
