Well it looks like one of my Christmas wishes is down the tubes. 17 year old goalie Olivier Tremblay of Rimouski was dealt to Victoriaville for 2 second round picks. We were rumoured to have offered a 2nd and a 4th for him. looks like we were outbid. Back to the drawing board.

If we had of been truly interested we were quite capable of beating Victo's offer

Unless Dumont makes a deal today, looks like we will not be seeing any new faces with the Eagles on Sunday night.

Instead of the trades many of us were hoping for, today's Post informs us that the Eagles are looking for better results in the 2nd half. We were also!
The list of excuses doesn't quite justify the real causes of the Eagles' place, in the standings IMO.

Fully agree, how long are we going to use injuries as a crutch. Every team has them, other teams lose their best players to the NHL,some fail to report(Quebec). This group of kids are definitely underachieving and the blame for that rests with only one person. On that subject, I am hearing from a couple of sources that the Board of Directors are seriously looking at bringing in a coach (hopefully sooner than later)

The list of excuses doesn't quite justify the real causes of the Eagles' place, in the standings IMO. They list the 13 one goal loses, but there is a very good reason for that, Dumonts "system" when they get the lead is the worst I've ever seen. They give up prime scoring chance after prime scoring chance over and over until they eventually collapse. For whatever reason, they are deathly afraid to ice the puck if they get hemmed in, I know its not ideal but usually they just end up giving it away trying to not ice the puck and get scored on. I have a feeling we're not going to make any trades this period, which is pretty shocking. Guess we'll have an absolute boatload of options for picks at this years draft...

I can't see bringing in a new coach who's going to be working under / with the former coach who is the GM being very successful, especially if trading period was wasted away as an opportunity to make some critical changes for the rest of this season and even more so for next season.

It can indeed be successful. They just have to leave their egos at the door , which unfortunately for most men is not the easiest thing to do. You only have to look to Halifax to see it work.
Or Victo. I know Jean eventually left but the team was having an decent season even before he left for Chicoutimi while Jean was still showing decency as a GM.

My sources are petty good. As was previously stated here that the Board had an unscheduled meeting following the Eagles loss in Moncton, I am told that was not the case and no such meeting was held. Also hearing that the rumoured deal with Baie-Comeau involving Dubois was throttled by the Board and Dumont was told that Dubois was not to be traded. Have to wait and see I guess.

looneytunes even if the egos are left at the door there is still the problem of "If trading period was wasted away as an opportunity to make some critical changes for the rest of this season and even more so for next season".
I realize that there is still time left but some trading opportunities no longer remain. With the Eagles defense and goaltending, if there are no changes I can't be overly optimistic, I'm afraid.
