What do you think the chances this is the last time we see Zach in a moose jersey? I think Zach knows the answer... If he is possibly going he has already had that talk with Cam...its 50/50 - there has been a peace to Zachs game since before he went to the Subway series. He looks to be having fun. He has played every game even b2b in that time which means that he is giving the league every chance to see him and increase his value. Zach will have a huge workload with the WJC and is not getting a break. Watch Zach at end of periods at home games lately he has been more cognizant of the crowd and fans in his demeanor - getting the puck to throw it in stands before the linemen can...I think Zach thinks this could be it..and thats why he is playing so well... Of course him playing that well makes it harder to move him and less likely...so maybe thats what he is trying to avoid. Its in the hands of Cam and 3 or 4 other GMs...

What do you think the chances this is the last time we see Zach in a moose jersey? Very slim, in my opinion. Though, I seem to be in the minority.

I agree, any signs of him being different in how he is acting/playing has more to do with being 19. A deal could work out but usually with the Moose it seems to come from pressure on other teams not Halifax. Certainly the number of games he played lately would suggest there is no deal in place or close. He does not need to be showcased and usually veterans are stopped/slowed down not overused if traded. It would have to be worth it based on Halifax play and the other assets traded rather than wasted. Volts have used their backup lately for example.

This is the middle game of a 3 on 3 so you have to figure the 17 year old newcomer will get a start at some point this weekend. Auger already played last night and the Sea Dogs seem to prefer giving young new goalies their 1st starts on the road. Generally I agree with this approach but I think it would be unwise to do it here. SJ plays an easier opponent in Val D'Or tomorrow which I think is when Bishop should start.

Your coach did not make the same mistake Rumble made, and it paid off. Good hockey game. Both Auger and Fucale played well but 2 good goals late in the first was the difference. Zach is rated as the top 19 year old goalie in the country, for good reasons IMO from someone who has seen most of his wins. Auger is in the same class and I would not argue with someone who said he was better. Two great goalies dictated the game tonight. Both goals where taking advantage of our dee. Luke Green just blew by our dee and made a great shot top corner. Next goal was a seeing eye pass to the perfect spot. Good show by the Moose. I can never go to the game and not cheer for the team. I want them to win even if it screws up the buy/sell thing. I think ultimately we have too many holes. A one line team, even if it may be the best line in the league , will not get into May. If it was Zachs last game for the Moose I will be sad but I understand the cycle. With Dom coaching I know he will work with what he has after the trade period and it will still be fun to come to the rink and cheer for the boys. GO MOOSE!!!!!!!

The vibe I got this weekend, and by the demeanor on the ice of both Zach and Nik is that neither one of them are going anywhere anytime soon except the world juniors, maybe those that go downstairs after the games got a better feeling of that. I thought the boys didn't look so good in the first period, Saint John really took it to them and made them pay a few times. Second, the boys had numerous great chances to get back in the game before Timo put one in Nik drew an assist to extend his point streak to 15 games. Third, the boys really pushed and had a few great chances late in the game to tie things up. Nik has to cool it; I have no idea what happened on his penalty as it was at the other end of the ice but from what I'm hearing people felt Saint John should have had a penalty on that play. And no one in the building was impressed with the linesmen shoving Nik into the glass, he better not be working for awhile. I guess when the puck hits the mesh now it's a delay of game penalty, Happened twice this weekend. O well move on get ready for Bathurst Wed.

After the season last year I had a chance to ask Zach about going to Habs training camp and how he was feeling about coming into the season as a 19 year old in fall. He said he was definitely coming back. This was when there was speculation about what might happen at the draft. He really felt what the team was saying to him....but then he added "but you never know its really not something I can control".
I also think Fucs would like to play in Montreal with Blainville - its home and it would put him close to the Habs and that would get the most ou of him, but otherwise I do not think he really prefers any other place.

Did we really expect we could beat one of the top teams with so many of our players injured and call-ups being brought in. I was proud of our guys tonight - the first 2 goals in the first period made the difference but our boys didn't give up.

Interesting what's Blainville's situation in net though, because like all other teams they seem set I'm just getting a feeling he's not going anywhere all signs are pointing that way I'm probably in the minority. Like most have said we don't need to showcase him, and he's played a ton lately usually teams trying to trade players use them less; i.e look at example above the Volts they've been using their backup more lately. Zach's parents don't seem to mind coming to Halifax, Just my gut feeling that there not going anywhere.

On Ehlers...when it comes to losing his cool and not knowing when to let go just call him Drouin II --- he learned to put down officials and speak too much and is doing it over and over. He is a good player and does not need to do that.
One game last year he was playing puck and the linesman was in the way at the blueline. As play was going he gave that linesman a blue streak of curse right at the glass where all the fans in section 7 and 8 could see and hear it... He has ignored refs calls to be quiet and his mouth has gotten him minors and misconducts. He got the misconduct tonight for that same thing. In many ways he does many of the things Drouin did to confront offiials. Also he has embellished a little on plays and the regular refs notice this...it piles up against you when u do too much of it. I like Ehlers skills and playmaking but if he had a little less Diva in him it would cost the team less.

I was proud of our guys tonight - the first 2 goals in the first period made the difference but our boys didn't give up. We were sitting at home and both teams played last night. SJ drove 4 hours to Halifax for the game. Yes I expected to win. And in the third period you saw how tired the Dogs were...the key is always hit early and wear down late. Auger was very good.
