Did Brassard shoot it into the empty net or was he just credited with the goal because he was last to touch the puck ? Brassard shot it, it bounced off the boards and in.

Oh sweet. Has any goalie in the history of the franchise done that before tonight? JB?

Oh sweet. Has any goalie in the history of the franchise done that before tonight? JB? Pretty sure he is the first. Although Marc-Andre Fleury certainly tried plenty of times during his brief return in 03-04! Eagles have had a goalie goal scored AGAINST them before. Maxime Gougeon of Rimouski... nearly five years ago to the day (it was in early December of 2009, also at C200). But I am pretty sure this is the first for an Eagle goalie. Pat McNeil said on the broadcast that it was. To further clarify your earlier question about how puck went in: We were on the penalty kill, actually. Brassard rimmed the puck around the boards... I assume with only the intention to clear it out of the zone. Puck took a funny bounce off the boards, changed direction. Rolled slowly towards open cage. Brassard started getting excited. Clark Bishop caught up to the puck, could have helped it in, but made sure to keep his stick away from it.. knew it was shot by Brassard! The rink was only half-full, but those who were there went pretty crazy.

Oh sweet. Has any goalie in the history of the franchise done that before tonight? JB? First goalie in Cape Breton franchise history to score a goal, only the fourth goalie to score a goal in QMJHL history. Antoine Lafleur was the first to score a goal back in Sept 25th 2005 while playing with the PEI Rocket. Peter Delmas (Lewiston) & Maxime Gougeon (Rimouski) both did it on the same night December 6th, 2008 and now the goal by Brassard

Nice win against a very skilled team last night. Was not pretty but they showed fight and out worked the Remparts. Also congratulation to Brassard on beating his old team, fighting for the win and making a couple of big saves in the 2nd. Also for ignoring the boos in the first and a goal. 3 wins out of the last 4 games and an excellent effort in the Friday loss.

Wonder if that could be a turning point of sorts in Brassard's season?
If anything could turn around a guy's momentum, something like that might be it.
More generally, wouldn't surprise me if we look back on that game as a pivotal point in the season.
Hey, all the way back in 2001-2002 (the Noel, Fleury, MacRae etc days)... many forget that that team underachieved in the first half kind of similar to the way this year's team has been. That year, it was an emotional win against Quebec in the final home game before Xmas... that ended up being what everyone pointed to as the turning point in the season.
Might be a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. That team was pretty deep... not sure if this year's team has the horses anymore to truly contend this season. But still, last night's game kinda brought me back.

Also I loved Dubois playing with Farrel and Hines and think that Bell up front adds a big body with great offensive skills. Would love to see him play forward for 3 or 4 games and see how it works.
