anybody thinking that Brunelle could be on the move ? He begrudgingly pulled his horns in last night on at least 3 occasions ( thus not risking getting hurt ) or is he just trying something different ?

I was never really on board with the "contend this year" bandwagon just because of how young our defense is. But, yes, you have to wonder I last night could be a turnaround The Eagles as a whole and Brassard specifically. In Brassard's case, the question is can you count on that. But it may depend on what goaltenders are available in the market anyway!
I have used the 2001 example myself in recent days. There has been a lot of talk about the "Pascal Vincent" era on this board lately but people forget that fans wanted Vincent strung up on a rope early in the season. The Eagles were a clearly at the top of the cycle team who were at or below .500. There was a turnaround that seemed to happen after that December 14th memorable game (also against Quebec) and the Eagles ended up making the league semis that year.
Svech and Pelletier being out definitely hurts our offense but it has shown there is work to do on the bottom 6. You have to like how Dubois has stepped up however.

Also I loved Dubois playing with Farrel and Hines and think that Bell up front adds a big body with great offensive skills. Would love to see him play forward for 3 or 4 games and see how it works. I agree and I said it before and will again Bell needs to play up front for a at least a bit he does have the skill to do well in that position.

Given how suspensions are thrown around these days, I think that may be a big part of the reason why the horns get pulled in. We are also short up front so we can't really afford for players to get thrown out of games or suspended.

Bell is a better offensive player than he is a defenseman so yes he should be playing up front IMO. Brassard is decent but if we have to score 6 BC he let's in 5 were going to have problems doing that every night. I think an upgrade in goal and on defense will be the key to the rest of the season going well

Dubois has played great. Could he be the most skilled 16 year old we ever had? Thoughts?
I for one am really hoping he stays!!

Probably Top 5 but James Sheppard will own that distinction for quite a while . If we are including "all positions" then Marc Andre Fleury trumps them all . However saying all that there are probably 2500 to 3000 people that don't want to see Dubois go anywhere .

If Dumont trades Dubois, he should be run out of town. It's about time he actually put him on a line (Farrell/Hinds) that compliments his skill level. Let's see if he leaves him there or will the line juggling continue.

Oh sweet. Has any goalie in the history of the franchise done that before tonight? JB? First goalie in Cape Breton franchise history to score a goal, only the fourth goalie to score a goal in QMJHL history. Antoine Lafleur was the first to score a goal back in Sept 25th 2005 while playing with the PEI Rocket. Peter Delmas (Lewiston) & Maxime Gougeon (Rimouski) both did it on the same night December 6th, 2008 and now the goal by Brassard Lafleur was credited with scoring a goal. Mooseheads put the puck in their own net on delayed penalty call

We are developing Bell for what he will be in his peak years. Moving him up front would be counter productive as it would send the wrong message I think. Is there any indication that he's played forward regularly before or are you all judging this on his speed and defensive issues?

It's an interesting comparison but it's also hard to compare since Sheppard came into a very young team who went through a brutal collapse in 2004. He didn't have near the talent to play with as Dubois does right now. But it's hard for me to pick which one is/was the better 16yr old.

Wonder if that could be a turning point of sorts in Brassard's season? If anything could turn around a guy's momentum, something like that might be it. More generally, wouldn't surprise me if we look back on that game as a pivotal point in the season. Hey, all the way back in 2001-2002 (the Noel, Fleury, MacRae etc days)... many forget that that team underachieved in the first half kind of similar to the way this year's team has been. That year, it was an emotional win against Quebec in the final home game before Xmas... that ended up being what everyone pointed to as the turning point in the season. Might be a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. That team was pretty deep... not sure if this year's team has the horses anymore to truly contend this season. But still, last night's game kinda brought me back. I think turning this thing around in terms of getting into a higher seed and giving a team a run in round 1 and maybe even winning a round isn't totally out of the question. If I remember correctly the 01-02 1st half seen us hovering around .500 until mid-December when the team really took off. Contending now would be next to impossible. Too many holes even for this team to fill. The question becomes what do you make of the Euro situation going into next year? Do we absolutely need to try and put a winning team on the ice while we can capitalize on having 2 players like that on the team? I think going through next year and losing them both without truly seeing them play on a contender would be a shame, but you can't force what isn't there in terms of chemistry and leadership.

Is there any indication that he's played forward regularly before or are you all judging this on his speed and defensive issues? He played on the wing at U17s last year on a line with Nicolas Roy. He looked completely lost. Bell is the type of player that fans will always have an issue with. For every 10 exceptional breakouts there's 1 bad turnover and the focus is always on the 1 turnover.

Bell is probably the easiest example to use to describe our defense this year.
We are developing a defense this year and adding to this winning expectations.
The two do not go hand in hand.
