Wow. I was not expecting that entertaining of a game heading into the break.
Start with the positive
Best game of the year for Askew, looked absolutely dominant out there. Great game from Jacob, I actually struggled to tell if it was him or Garland with the puck half the time. He should be called up the rest of the year, will not look out of place in the top 6. Tibbo also looked great out there, hope he is ok as he's really starting to put some pts up. The "servicable 20 year old" Taylor Burke had a terrific game. He does a little bit of everything, he'll really put some points up playing in Rumbles system.
You really can't say enough about the cats character after these recent trades. I know these are weaker teams we are beating but these kind of comebacks were not something we'd see in last years team. heading into the break and these kids just want to see their families and I'm still seeing 100% effort out there
To the negative
some real greasy stuff going on at the end of that game from CB. The Farrell spear, the brunelle hit from behind, bishop got away with a cross check from behind, and last but certainly not least the Lalonde cross check to the face of Tibbo. He could be looking at up to 10 games, that was brutal.

What a game.
Best games for a lot of Cats. Askew , Garland , Jacob were all terrific. I've been saying it all along, Jacob better be here to stay.

Granted Garland had 5 pts tonight playing pretty much every minute of pp. Was on the ice for 3 goals against.Again. And people here wonder why he never got a crack at Team usa. The grease at the end of the game can be laid primarily at the feet of Rumble. The Eagles were embarrassed enough after losing a 3 goal lead without having your top power play unit on the ice in a 9-5 and 10-5 situation. Any coach with any integrity knows when to pull back. You knew that garbage was going to happen after that. Hopefully Tibbo is alright. Goals in four straight games and killing penalties. Like to see him with more offensive opportunities. They brought Duquette here for what? Muscle? Last minute of a game that had players spearing, checking from behind, crosschecking to the face. Intentionally trying to injure and Duquette is sitting on the bench. Figure that one out.

I will take a shot at figuring it out.
Duquette got 12 minutes in penalties at the 18:28 mark of the third so he was kinda...you know...unavailable?

Pretty sure one of those goals was the one where Johnston ran into Dubeau. The cats had one powerplay goal tonight and Garland did not get a point on it, he had 5 even strength points, so your post doesn't really make any sense. Garland actually had a really nice shot block in the third that might have prevented a goal. Don't care who was on the ice at anytime in the game that cross check is violent and unacceptable.

My apologies, my point was yes he did have 5 goals but wouldn't it be nice to see less against. Not only tonight but for the season up to date.Garland is an offensive threat without a doubt and exciting to watch. What if his defensive game could be strengthed! And yes all the garbage at the end of the game is unacceptable. But you could also see that it was going to end the way it did.

Fun night at the rink and a great way to close out the first half of the season. This team is certainly an adventure at times, but I don't think anyone can deny that this has been a thoroughly entertaining opening half of the campaign. In terms of getting my money worth this is the most satisfied I've been in a while.
I'm still not even sure what happened in that 54 second span in the second period. Unbelievable. It just doesn't seem to matter who's in the line-up at this point, the offence keeps on rolling! Ever since that drubbing in Saint John on October 18th the Cats have score less than three goals in a game just TWICE. That's pretty darn good.
Just to mostly echo what other people have already said...great game for Askew. Sometimes you can pick up assists and not really look that noticeable, but he was flat out dominant at times with the puck. Really hope Tibbo is ok because he's turning into a real solid contributor on the team. Lalonde deserves a lengthy suspension for that cross check.
With Olivier on the way out I really hope this means Jacob gets the call for the rest of the season. It's borderline insane that he's not with the team right now. He's looked good in every game he's played so far and with some of the recent trades there's no reason he shouldn't be getting ice time with the Cats.
First place in the Maritime Division and two points out of 1st overall with a game in hand. Fun times to be a Cats fan no matter how you slice it!

From my point of view Garland has made some nice strides to get better at the defensive side of the game. You certainly can't say the effort isn't there because he's almost always hustling to get back in his own zone and that wasn't always the case previously.

I agree 100%. CB fell apart in tonights game in more ways besides the 10-5 loss being up 5-2 at one point. Hopefully some suspensions to send a message, some very dangerous activity displayed by CB.

Not trying to be negative because he is a great player, no doubt one of the best. Yet his line gets scored against alot. At times, especially in the beginning of the season, I blamed the other players. But I started noticing that he doesn't always pass when the opportunities are there. A few times it led to loosing the puck. Regardless, he is hot right now. I enjoyed watching Jacob also. Imagine what he could do with proper training. Happy to see him getting more ice time with the cats. The end of the game was ugly.

Some people are bitching after Garland for his defensive play, but he is not worst than most of the team. It's the coaching that isn't teaching defense.
For instance, it was 4-2 for the Eagles. There was 10 seconds left on their PP. Garland went to the net and tried to score. Lost the puck behind the net, CB comes back with the puck and scores. Now I know Garland is a goal scorer, but the focus at that point should have been to kill the penalty. The right move was to shoot in the chest, drive to the net, force a stoppage of play and give options to your coach with a faceoff deep in the zone.
I know some of you will reply with saying they won the game because of that offense... and Garland scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game against Bathurst a week ago. Regardless, against top teams, if they let in 3-4-5 goals, they'll be winning a few games, but they won't come out on top after 7 games.

Frame and body type have a big impact on the ability for an athlete to get bigger.
